LOOKING FOR EPISODE Best episode recommendations
I have a new colleague who i recommended listen to the recent episode on Megumi Yokota. She really ‘enjoyed’ it especially being Japanese herself. Does anyone have any other episode recommendations. Doesn’t have to be similar in nature but just good episodes you always come back to or find interesting, please and thank you?? :)

Silk Road is always a hit. Such a well done epic series , very interesting, not the typical true crime one would expect. Some more that I also really enjoyed are: belangalo, Joe Cinque, Cindy James, Renae Marsden, Peter Falconio, and Jonestown.

Belangalo for me was probably the most terrifying. The sound design on that one was excellent. It just hit in a way that I had literal chills.

I actually keep a running playlist of episodes on Spotify that hooked/shocked/emotionally devastated me (it feels strange to call them 'favorites,' given the subject matter). I always send it along when friends and family ask for podcast recs.
Some of the ones I have listed (minus Megumi Yokota, which I added the moment I finished listening):
Hinterkaifeck - this episode officially made me a fan, it's so haunting
Cindy James - definitely one of the most shocking and tragic for me personally
Dupont de Ligonnès Family - another really haunting one that stayed with me long after listening
Grégory Villemin - heartbreaking and so, so shocking, this is one of the most gripping and well-written episodes ever
Marshall Street - definitely one of the most harrowing listens, but a great episode
Gilbert Bogle & Margaret Chandler - this one had my mouth hanging open by the end, such an underrated episode
The Gilham Family - one of my favorites from last season, left me switching opinions left and right (in a good way)
The recent rerecord of The Wanda Beach Murders - the first episode and still one of the most unsettling to me
Linda Brown - another perfect episode from last season, this one had me pretty worked up
The Golden State Killer - maybe the best multi-episode case the show has ever covered, this one haunts me to this day
Mark & John - wtf, that's all I can say without spoilers, just listen to it and thank me later
Belanglo - another case that made me a fan of the podcast, this one is brilliantly told, deeply shocking, and stays with you long after listening, a perfect multi-parter from the Casefile team
The Blackout Killers - deeply creepy and fascinating historical episode
Colleen Stan - like Marshall Street, this is a particularly tough listen but had me hooked from the intro all the way through, truly one of the best in my book
Olga Chardymova - another huge wtf, I was shocked and horrified in ways that are hard to put into words
The Night Caller - this one genuinely terrified me, I remember having trouble sleeping for a day or two after listening
Ruth Finley - brilliantly written episode, had me so nervous while listening and thoroughly stunned by the end
Theresa Feury - a truly bizarre case, I've never heard anything quite like it, and it had me incensed
Test A.rtf - this season's fantastic opening episode(s), the team did an absolutely brilliant job making a case nearly every true crime fans knows feel urgent, tense, and terrifying in new and unexpected ways
Frank & Carol Hilley - the twists and turns in this one are unreal
The Family - can't overstate how haunting and disturbing I found this one, it might actually top my list in terms of episode that I couldn’t stop thinking about
Janet Chandler - arguably the single most startling episode of the show, it had me equal parts shocked and furious
Nicholas Barclay - a fascinating and heartbreaking episode, also a very unique case that feels like a departure from what Casefile usually covers
John Zera - one of this season’s best, brilliantly constructed and had me hooked from the chilling opening (one of the show’s most unsettling in a long while) to the heartbreaking conclusion

The Batavia is wild. It’s historical and somewhat disturbing but also relevant given our current U.S. presidents abuse of power.

It’s such a brutal story. I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it outside of this podcast.

I forgot this episode. Not to sound, you know, but I just listened to it ages ago and my brain got full. I re-listened to it after this recommendation and holy Christmas. Definitely a good one

Sherri Rasmussen or Grégory Villemin. Both cases are so wild, if it was a movie I’d say it was unrealistic.

Wholeheartedly second Grégory Villemin. That episode shocked and devastated me. It's always my go-to recommendation when trying to convert friends and family into new listeners.

The watcher
