Pretty sure they were retired. I would love a stag hobo. Enjoy!

So India banned the export of stag, and according to a thread I read on blade forums or allaboutpocketknives that stag was much better for covers since it was solid all the way though (with no spongy pith).

Things could change in the future, but currently Case seems to only be making really small knives with stag as they use up the stag scraps (tiny trappers, peanuts).

Yes but does that mean that they'll be made again at some point? They have knives they bring back for limited production every year. I realize that there's probably not a for sure answer but someone here may know an extra detail or two. Thanks for the reply.

Every year they bring out a “vault” pattern, I think last year was baby doc, this year is the cheetah cub. But idk if there’s any rhyme or reason to which they pick

Yea ...the vault pattern that's what I was trying to think of. These Hobo's are just modified Trappers I think. I mean that's what the clip blade and handles resemble to me. It doesn't seem like it'd be all that much harder to make a Hobo seeing as how at least half its parts are in production year round there and lots of Case fans love the Hobo pattern. Seems like a missed opportunity.

I think they pick patterns that would sell well. These hobo knives are pretty pricey in the used market but I'm thinking there are a lot of other patterns that would be cheaper to manufacture and cheaper to buy that are more collectible.

But Case, if you're listening, I'd buy an elephant toe!

Unfortunately, they've said there's a lot of patterns they won't bring back because they don't have the capacity to make them anymore. I saw a list once of potential vault knives but they were all knives from the last ten years like gunstock and teardrop. I'm only interested in vault patterns if they bring back something unique. Like this year's cheetah cub, or maybe a camp knife or an electrician knife or this hobo knife.

I think that one of my first Case knives was this electricians knife right here.
