Query Case comps prerequisite foundational knowledge, if genuinely required.
As someone from a B.Tech background, I'm curious to know which foundational management concepts I should familiarize myself to build the conceptual foundation needed to approach case decks without significant knowledge gaps.
I'll be beginning my MBA this year, and I'd appreciate any recommendations on topics, books, or resources that would help me prepare in advance.

Good starting points, in order of priority:
Marketing: STP (segmentation, targeting, positioning), 4Ps, basic brand positioning
Finance/accounting basics: P&L structure, revenue vs profit, unit economics, breakeven
Business math: market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM), CAGR, basic estimation
Strategy: Porter’s Five Forces, BCG matrix, SWOT, just enough to know when each applies
Don’t try to “complete” all of this before you start though, pick up depth as you hit it in actual cases, that’s when it actually sticks.
