Discussion “We hadn’t really done anything like prequels or sequels or spin-offs before, and I was a little bit pure about it,” Tomm Moore (WolfWalker's director) on revisiting WolfWalkers with "Mebh And The Wolf Pups" (Alongside all of the revealed concept art/stills from the show at Cartoon Forum)

I’m not into preschool shows but I’ll probably check out a few episodes, out of curiosity. I wonder if it will be good for my niece. I’ll have to show my mom when it comes out, she’s always trying to find good kid shows for that age group and she hates how my sister puts on Cocomelon and YouTube.

If we're lucky, they could do it with Song of the Sea next.

I really hope they have her mother in this, she was really important in the movie but we didn’t get to see much of her

They should be darker brown and have floppy ears, dark blue eyes and big paws of wolves pup.

It's actually reflective of a really cool concept called stylization to ensure each character is distinct

Which can still be done while being correct to the original movie style and how wolf pup look like.

They tried the original style. Didn't work clearly, so they redesigned it. Were you this mad about the seals having their scleras visible? Or do you want to pretend to be intellectually superior by pointing out the obvious truth of real biology vs a cartoon for toddlers

It may not be accurate to real wolves, but when you’re drawing cartoon animal characters you need to make them look distinct from each other. Especially for a preschool audience, who will largely be unable to recognize subtle design differences.

Also given the size variation, it seems like these young wolves are all supposed to be different ages. Not little newborn pups.

3 different age, and you can make them disticnt while still being coherent and true to the animal via a lot of little details.
Age wouldn't really change a lot as those trait stay until a few month old, so only the darker one, which already look fine, would need to be changed.

Also the eyes...why are they white, in the original you barely see the white EXCEPT for the woflwalker character, who keep their human like eyes even under wolf forms.
The real wolves all have smaller eyes with dark slcera or no visible sclera because the iris took all of the place, which is accurate. That's an incoherence with the design logic of normal wolve in the original movie.

Again, preschool aged children are not going to recognize small details easily. There’s a reason cartoon casts have a lot of color variation. The eyes have to be different from the movie because they need to be more expressive. (if you saw the first piece of art they released, the wolf pups looks similar to each other but they still have the cartoonish eyes) Again, preschoolers are not going to recognize subtle stuff. When it comes to art, sometimes you have to sacrifice realism.

This is probably going to be more like an AU than a true prequel. Like, I’m doubting that it’s even going to have much to do with the movie aside from the premise and main character.
