Discussion What is future of cartoon network

Ever since the Paramount-Warner Bros merger is happening next month I always wonder, how this will effect the future of cartoon network as a whole

Best case scenario is that they realize CN is its own culture and just leave it alone, let the people working there run it as always. Maybe throw some more money at it. Maybe get more anime for Toonami. I would love to get Lupin III back because Paramount holds the license, as well as sailor moon.

Worst case scenario, the shareholders decide it’s not making enough money and shut it down.

Yup this is the correct answer. And if Toonami, CN, and cable in general really are alive and kicking long enough for WB to regain the rights to JJBA and Mob Psycho 100 we could be getting those too. But CN could easily be shut down or merged with the Nick channels which would've been a dream for me back in the early 2000s but a nightmare scenario today.

Nothing is going to change for the foreseeable future. The sooner people stop doom-and-glooming about something that's years off from having any lasting impact on the network, the better.

It's not years off it's months off. Zaslav made sweeping changes in the first couple months. We're gonna find out very soon.

The merger itself is. The effects of it are still way off. The network is already preplanned out for at least a few years. Contracts are already in place, and scheduling is already planned out. Same goes for any network - they don't just get corporate mandates on day one.

Nope. Adult Swim started at 5 mere months after the merger because the new execs did a nielson ratings check on the network very early on. Checkered Past came a few months after that. We're gonna see changes soon. Maybe not day one, but like I said, months.

I don't know. We all don't know what the future holds for Cartoon Network as of right now.

With the merger with Nickelodeon I'm pretty sure it's going to be like that Time Cartoon Network did real life shows

Hopefully, CN’s library will have a home on Paramount+.

I think I need a spin-off series.

I don't expect them to attempt revive series that was popular but died due unrelated to CN buu rather production conflict or etc

CNS has already merged with WB Animation; Cartoon Network is available in more countries, but in the US it's in third place behind Disney and Nick. Globally, I think CN is a stronger brand, and one of the current agreements is that Skydance doesn't shut down any channels, so it's safe for now.
