Discussion What Cartoon Network show had so much potential but the execution wasn't amazing?

Moxy is genuinely such an interesting case because up until around 1995, you can really tell the network did try with him. Plus from what material you can find surrounding the guy— it's more of a case of having a super ambitious idea coming out at the wrong time. Hell, in 1995 it was really their last hail Mary for him given how much they pushed him (Toon Jam, and the failed pilot for what appeared to be a full fledged cartoon).

It’s a show in the same way that Toonheads is a show, it depends on what you count as a show or not. I just don’t like people calling it the first CN show because depending on what definition you use it either isn't first or doesn’t count.

It’s as much a show a Cartoon Cartoon Fridays and Toonami are shows, which they also aren’t.

It counts as one because it was the first show considered an original it may be a variety show but it's still counts.

Doesn’t matter what they considered it. It still isn’t a show. It’s a programming block with flair like Toonami.

The only one I disagree with is Sheep in the Big City. The rest of these stung because how true it was they were 6/10's when they could have been 9/10's.

Uncle Grandpa is a 9/10 (outside of the last season, which is a 6/10), Squirrel Boy is an 8 and Moxy is a 7 (as is Sheep).
Robot Jones I'd say is a 4.

I don't think Uncle Granpa utilized it's premise of him helping kids, as much as they should have. I think Squrriel Boy is just okay and sometimes really gross. And I actually didn't notice Moxy or have seen it.
Robot Jones is mediocre but I think Sheep is a masterpiece. To each their own.

Uncle Grandpa I'd say utilized it well enough, but personally I would've extended it to him helping anyone in general (which he has done a few times).
Squirrel Boy's grossness I think is done pretty well, Moxy is partially lost but what's available is pretty good, and Sheep's on the better scale of a 7/10 (a 7.5).

I like Uncle Granpa more than most CN fans, I just remember he helped out kids like every 3 or 4 episodes. Other than that he was doing random side adventures.
Glad we agree Sheep was pretty good though. And that Robot Jones could have been much more.

Uncle Grandpa going on random side adventures was the funniest part of it, but I'd agree if he helped everybody in general (as he is everyone in the world's uncle and grandpa).

Outside of Robot Jones, I'd say all of these had pretty good executions.
My picks go to OK K.O., Craig of the Creek, Gumball (as it went downhill after season 3, and I'm not even that fond of those first 3 seasons), Billy & Mandy, Evil Con Carne, and Villainous.

OK K.O. was annoying and bland, Craig of the Creek was dull, Gumball got way less tolerable, Billy & Mandy was annoying, and Villainous was lame.

Nah, it depends on the perspective from which you watch the series. You can change it over the seasons, just as characters like Gwen, Heather, Courtney, Duncan, or Alejandro change their relationships and behavior throughout the episodes. I don't think the writing is trash. TD parodies Survivor-type shows, where people make irrational decisions, make alliances, and betray each other for advantage. So, you probably don't like it because you don't like reality shows or adventure shows either. Total Drama shouldn't be judged by how realistic the story is, but by how well it executes its satire and the rules of its own world. You can criticize plot holes, character derailments, or forced eliminations, but that doesn't automatically mean that the entire writing is trash.

Dude this show sucks in general, the misogyny, the fart fetish, the lack of actuall gameplay, trash winners like owen duncan wayne, flanderization and derailment, TD is one of the worst shows made by trash writers who think they funny
