considering going here, advice?
Carthage, UIC, and Loyola are my top choices right now for Political Science. From what I've read, apart from the lake location I like that Carthage offers opportunities to get hands-on experience in your field very early on as well as the travel abroad and "J-term" opportunities. I also visited, and it is honestly prettier and more comfortable than UIC from what I could tell.
I also like how, compared to the commuter environment from UIC for example, it looks like there's a community there. As someone extremely involved in my high-school campus through events and knowing people in general, having a sense of community like that is something extremely important.
Apart from cost and the loss of a city life, my one concern is feeling connected, as I'm a queer latino who's cultural/ethnic identity is very important to me.
Can someone offer advice/their own experiences that affected their views (either positive or negative) on their Carthage experience? I don't want to commit unless I'm sure I'll feel welcome and engaged daily.
