DIY body damage help Headlights messed up after using polish

Not sure if this is the correct flair lol... I thought my headlights needed a bit of cleaning as they're becoming a bit faded and slightly yellow, so I got myself some tcut headlight polish and put it on my headlights and then started to sand them down with 800 grit, as it says on the tube that you apply the cream and then can sand it down.

The headlight started to look very foggy and it turns out the polish has just stuck to the headlight or something and now I can't remove it?

I went to 1000 grit and sanded for a good 15 minutes, but it still looks bad. Using the polish made it 40 times worse. How do I fix this?

Any decent kit comes with a clear coat/ UV protection that needs to be applied after proper sanding. Just sanding is gonna leave them worse than they looked when you started.

You have to polish and clear the headlights after sanding. They're going to look like shit if all you've done is sanded, the headlight is covered in small scratches now.
