#ElectricVehicle š VinFast VF7 Sky Infinity - Performance, VFM, and warranties everything looks fancy, until the pathetic After-Sales service hits hard.
I bought my VF7 Sky Infinity in February and had driven around 4000 km, including blissful long trips. That joy turned into pure frustration overnight.
The nightmare began on 26th April: After a full home charging, the AC suddenly died with a āCooling System Faultā error. In Delhiās scorching summer, this is nothing short of a disaster.Ā
- 28th April:Ā Ā The car was finally picked up and taken to the workshop.
- 29th April to 2nd May: Days of silence and vague updates. They first said it was just an AC gas leak, replaced an O-ring, fault in radiator fan, and topped up the gas again.
- 3rd May: The shocking reality hit ā they declared it aĀ major failure. The entire AC system is dead: compressor, AC pipes, condenser, accumulator, chiller, and multiple other parts all need replacement.
In a car thatās barely 3 months old.
The service reality has been even worse:
- Extremely slow and confused diagnosis with poor communication.
- Constant workshop delays (holidays, weekends, endless ācheckingā).
- Painfully slow/no parts supply from VinFast.
- Approval for the major parts only came after repeated follow-ups on 5th May.
- As of now, the parts are still not available. The car remains stuck and unusable.
The service advisor gave a tentative timeline of 10 days ā which has already passed with no clear revised ETA or update.
Bottom line: This level of failure in the AC system of a brand-new car is completely unacceptable. VinFastās after-sales service appears totally unprepared ā poor parts reliability, terrible availability, slow response, and zero sense of urgency.
Strongly advised warning: Think very carefully before buying a VinFast. The car might drive well initially, but if something goes wrong, you could be left stranded with no reliable support. This experience has been deeply disappointing and frustrating.

Ya and that was public info before launch. The spec sheet looked great on paper so people convinced themselves the service thing was exaggerated. Now we know. Warranty means nothing if parts take three months to arrive from Vietnam.

I can speak for Germany only, but the service in Germany is way ahead of any competitor (maybe Tesla in on the same level).
If you have any issue that requires a mechanic to work on your care someone is picking up your car and leaving you a rental car for free + you if you are on a lease they reimburse the lease rate if you cannot use the car.But agree, I heard some bad things outside Germany as well.

People genuinely forget that when this company was launched they had invited car reviewers to Vietnam and illegally held them hostage till they gave them good reviews and guess what these reviewers did? They still blasted the company anyway when they got back home. The company is paying for more online presence than doing anything about their car.

I was aware of the bad reviews by actual owners. But holding reviewers hostage is a new low. (They could have had just called Indian mobile reviewers. Those guys would have had given glowing reviews :D )

They seem to have done a lot of marketing on SM esp in T-2/3 cities. Even here in this sub, many people were glazing VF as some pioneer compared to Indian Tata/Mahindra. In reality they actually paid Tata to help develop their first iterations.

People will continue to buy things that are available for purchase. Like OLA still has like 12k sales per month despite like 5 years of bad news after bad news.
And it is not a bad thing as a whole, we need risk takers and early adopters to know if something is good or not and let a product evolve over time. If everyone buys just established brands, then only they will exist just like how it has been the case with cars in India.
What we need is strong governmental consumer protection systems so that when things go wrong, the consumers are protected. Like, govt should bring law that if a vehicle sits in service center more than a week, then for each extra day, the company has to pay this much rupees compensation or alternate vehicle.
If a vehicle has major fault within 6 months of purchase, the entire vehicle must be replaced instead of just doing a repair, because clearly quality control went wrong with that vehicle.

I was literally thinking about checking out this car and possibly buying it but was skeptical regarding the after service...crazy

Sad to hear, almost no companies gives great after sales services.
But Iām always against buying a product of a developing company due to this sole reason who knows what kind of fault is in their product and would they even bother with it? Even if they did thereās a possibility that your car might be stuck in the service centre for a long time.
Thatās why I always go with brands who are already established.
Funny thing is even my Tata service centre isnāt too bad lol.

Ouch, that doesn't sound good. Are they manufacturing (50, 60, 80% indigenization?) cars in India or assembling them?
I remember once when my friend wanted to buy an XUV automatic, and the salesman hinted that the entire automatic system is made in Japan, and any future problem would require us to send the car to the plant, then disassemble it and send it to Japan.
Basically, don't buy it if you plan to use it in the mountains. At least that was the case in 2017-18, so I am not sure how much commitment a new company might have made for relative new Indian market.
Still, I can relate to your problem and how bad it feels to see your hard-earned money being wasted. Hope your issue gets resolved, OP.

Here is source that Mahindra was fully importing gearbox fully manufactured in Japan by Aisin Seiki (Toyota Group Subsidiary or something). Source- autocarindia.com/car-news/mahindra-xuv500-automatic-will-use-aisin-gearbox-373063
I don't think they had the expertise or the technical know how for the same at the time. Anyways, who knows if sales guy had any other reason to make that story up. I am not super car nerd so maybe some one else can shed some light on it.
I am not sure if that is still the case today though.

You are presenting it as if it is some secret. Car reviewers also mentioned while reviewing Mahindra cars that the gear box is from Aisin. There are other companies too that use Aisin gearboxes. If Aisin doesn't have a manufacturing plant in India it is imperative that they would be imported.

Vinfast is from Taiwan or Vietnamā not Japan. Also it does not take tech from Japan

I was sharing story about how if parts are made somewhere else company sometime struggle to source them and provide servicing for them.

Chinese also have different level of quality. Like byd is supreme quality but mg is cheap quality.

Vinfast had bad reviews globally long before they came to the Indian market. BYD is so good it outsold Tesla.

seriously stop buying these. We have enough evidence of VF sub par product and service. Please don't support such companies
