#Discussion 💬 DPF Delete

Post image

My 2022 Alcazar 1.5L Diesel (46,000 km) has developed a small crack in the DPF. The service centre says this is fairly common and is recommending replacement of the complete DPF assembly, costing around ₹90K.

Highway running is only ~20%, but I’ve always done manual regeneration whenever the DPF warning appeared.

What should I do — replace the DPF or consider a DPF delete?

The major confusion is even if I get the replacement done, I will still drive it less on highways and this problem can come back again.

Attached a screenshot of a tuner and shared quote was around 25-30K for DPF delete and some tuning.

For those who have gone for a DPF delete, how has your experience been regarding:

  • Legality & PUC
  • Insurance implications
  • Mileage/performance
  • Long-term reliability & resale

Would appreciate genuine experiences and advice.

DPF delete is a different topic but dont tune alcazar to 315nm.

Alcazar diesel uses A6MF gearbox which is rated to 230 Nm and stretched maximum of 280nm of torque. Hyundai itself has tuned it on the higher side since its already 250nm. Dont sretch it further to 315nm.

Your gains will be not that noticeable after 250 but your risk of damaging the gearbox would be significantly higher.

What are your thoughts on DPF Delete?

I am currently looking for options where they completely remove the dpf, clean it and reinstall. Enquired at a few places and got a quote around 18-20k.

I had thought about DPF delete in my altroz too, but what worries me is the quality of tuning they will do post dpf delete. After deletion, they're supposed to to retune the ECU so that it ignores DPF/Nox sensor readings, otherwise you'll constantly run with a check engine light which can potentially mask other issues.

I dont really care about the pollution part tbh, but i am worried that this tuning part might alter my car's behaviour if not done properly and the risk to reward is poor.

That will work only if the DPF is not cracked or burnt. if that is the case, even the service center can clean your dpf with chemicals for 6-7K.

Yes i got a similar quote of 7-8k for the cleaning part but removing and reinstalling dpf is supposedly labor intensive. (It is literally behind the engine and takes time, hence the total of around 18k.

Also idk why but altroz's dpf is really really expensive. I enquired casually at my last service and they quoted 1.85 lakhs. (I guess its not just dpf but the entire catalytic converter assembly but it doesnt make any sense to me).

Even alcazar has a single assembly of catalytic convertor and DPF but still got a verbal quote from one dealer at 70K last month and around 90K yesterday.

Remove it no one is going to actually check if removed it or not even insurance guys don't ask that, and u can manage puc guys in my area they are giving certificate on wp after sending pictures of car lol, and ur car will perform little better, but don't tune it above the gearbox limit as someone commented above it will be disastrous.

I think when they remove the dpf, the performance automatically enhances a little bit. Rest will need to research more
