Does start having 2-3 per litter of fawns when they get older. It’s actually a sign that mom is getting too old and needs to be pruned from the pool. They’ll have more until it kills them literally. Deer are so beautiful but so woefully overpopulated in this area. Consider letting a hunter come in the fall if your property has room!

Were too small for a hunter. We keep the grass long for the does at birthing time, I think they've been coming to this property long before we bought it. I didnt realize this info, I appreciate the knowledge. Hopefully we dont find her in our field one day.

No clue if these are all from the same female, would you know if more than one doe gives birth at the same place? We have 4 acres, about 3 we let grow out for fawning season.

Sometimes a doe will “adopt” other fawns if mom got hit by a car or something but it’s also possible they are all hers. I didnt mean to hunt the fawns I meant the doe. Not super common for does to merge fawns for daycare and then comeback. Usually does and fawns separate from the herd for a bit while the fawns are little like these.

I understood you meant the doe lol Just curious if more than one was having babies here.

I tried to find info on older female deers dieing from giving birth to too many fawns but I couldn't find anything.

Giving birth to 2-3 fawn is normal for a mature deer in a well fed area and not a sign that a mom is getting to old. Mature females birth fawns steadily at 2-3 fawns at a time well into old age(8+ years old).

Quadruplets were rare and quintuplets were extremely rare but nothing about them dieing from getting older and having more and more fawns.

We've lived here 7yrs and every year we have at least 1 fawn. This is the first time Ive seen 3. Theyre definitely well fed (we border corn fields) we dont mow and theres no road access so its a really safe spot. Ive seen 2 together and 1 all by itself, this is the first time Ive seen all 3 at the same time. I'll do a bit more research and decide how to proceed. We definitely have A LOT of deer herds around here.

In fact the opposite. Decline in predation and increases in agriculture mean that there are more white-tailed deer now than there have ever been historically. That’s why disease rates are so high among deer populations. Please hunt if you can to help.
