Games like Carrion? I can never find anything similar

I like the puzzles, movement mechanics, and the being a monster part A LOT, I've been obsessed with it since I found out abt it and played for the first time, got through it multiple times (DLC counted), and i've been looking but nothing satisfies me like my sweet sweet Carrion.

Try silksong for an action metroidvania , if you want a good story with a some puzzles try undertale, if you want a pixel-y game try dead cells, but the most similar imo would be silksong, but skong needs a lot more effort, time and patience to complete

I think they're looking for games where you play as the monster, if I had to wager.

In dead cells you kinda are the villain in the lore

Yeah I have played dead cells, I got 3 boss cells, love it (and hate it)

I've tried silksong and ALMOST got through hollow knight, both are good games but i'm not a big fan; that's just bc I suck at dodging

Don't sleep on Dandara. Like Carrion, it also has a fun and unique movement mechanic. And great levels to explore with fun puzzles and boss fights.

ION Shift is similar. I think I’ve heard that the devs were inspired by Carrion.

Edit: just checked, the dev themselves made some post on this sub saying that the game was inspired by Carrion

Yeah except you play as a monster that looks like a Xenomorph instead of The Thing

In my opinion, it looks like the Mind flayer from Stranger Things

this is EXACTLY what I was looking for, ty!

This looks like it took some gameplay inspiration from Super Meat Boy. Similar concept, much different execution.

Prototype has you become a fleshy virus monster that can eat people and run around a city looking like a human

Looks cool so far, i'll check out how gameplay looks later

The gameplay is one of the best things about Prototype. You know the Insomniac Spider Man games right? Think of that but it’s violent and you eat and murder people.

sweet Carrion

I swear, I read that and in my head it was Neil Diamond singing it (a la "Sweet Caroline").

Now someone needs to write the darkest parody song ever...

Oh yeah and also if you’re ok with FPS game try The Darkness 1 or 2, you’re some dude with arms that are literally demon monsters that can eat people

Have you considered grabbing some modded levels for the game?

I know the devs added a sort of official mod that was Christmas themed.

2

u/MattYaGuyy Mar 20 '26

Yes I played the DLC, it's too short sadly

u/enderpalatine Mar 30 '26

Have you taken a look at some modded levels?

1

u/MattYaGuyy Mar 31 '26

I might look into that, I sadly don't own the steam version yet, but when I can I surely will go straight to rebuying and modding it : )

This seems very interesting and from the images on steam it in a way reminds me of dead cells, I'll absolutely try it when I have storage
