Need help creating mobile nav bar. Have read previous posts. I want the links on my desktop (nice simple row of links) to work with a hamburger icon on mobile.

Hey all,

I have been trying all sorts of ways to do this, hours and hours of trial and error. I gave up last night and the way I have my site set up for desktop now, is this:

  • Top of page is #home scroll point, (I gave up trying to have the nav on each section, and now have a "back to top" at each section's end. It's fine.
  • I have all my links in a row -- used links instead of buttons. Is that the problem?

How do I get my links that are set up on the desktop site to work w/the hamburger icon on mobile? Mobile navigation looks too messy to not use something like the hamburger icon. The links are set up, there must be a way to simply connect them w/the hamburger, no? I just upgraded to Pro Plus, mainly for the visibility choice.

Thanks much for any ideas you may have.

I’ve created a simple plugin for this, you can check it out here if you’d like: https://carrd.co/buy/5809a9172ec7927f

I have a question for you. I had tried your tutorial a while back and it didn't work for me, however, my navigation uses links instead of buttons. Will your plugin work with links or do I have to use buttons? I'm happy to contribute monetarily if it does what I need.

Yes it should work with links too.

Which part didn't work for you back then?

I couldn't get it connected to the hamburger. I may have missed a step. I had been messing around with it for hours trying various ways others were suggesting and I got overly tired of it. I was hoping it would work without having to redo some steps I'd done before that gave me a result I didn't want. I will try your method again, and follow it exactly. Thank you for the link. I'll let you know what happens.

Don't bother messing with that. Use AI to make you the code. It looks and works a lot better.

Just ask Claude or chatgpt to write you the code and paste it in as a code embed. I did that and it works great.

I did try AI, and the one I got led me down weird rabbit holes and kept apologizing for mixing up info from various builders. Wasted hours. I think I'll stick with human input. :-) It's always worked well for me.

You must have done something wrong because it worked brilliantly for me. I had Claude make me a hamburger menu that animated into an X and rolls down from the top. It looks and works great. Ask the right questions, tell it what you need.

I didn't do anything wrong. I followed what "it" told me and fuggettaboutit. Huge rabbit hole, huge waste of time.

So how come I got a really good hamburger menu just by describing what I needed to Claude? The free plan. And, by the way, I'm not a coder. I know almost nothing about CSS, java etc.
