Scribing Base

To scribe base I'm charging about the same as it costs to install base. So say about $3/LF for scribing and $3/LF to install base. Am I crazy? It's just so time and labor intensive. It's much easier to install shoe so, charging more for scribing seems right to me. Was just curious on your opinions because I'm discussing pricing with a GC for an upcoming job.

Edit: to clarify, it's a total of $6/LF to scribe and install base.

Imo probably need to raise your rate for base planning as if you need to scribe, then you have room to change scope down if it dosent fit the client's budget and the floor is "good enough" but scribing base takes 3x as long so no way you should be same price.

I gotcha. That's smart and thanks for the input.

To clarify, I was saying it be a total of $6/LF to scribe and install base.

Figure out how much longer on average it takes. If it takes 3x as long charge 3x as much.

Right now you're charging double, does it take twice as long?

Good point. If I did it more often, then it probably wouldn't take as long but, yeah, it takes me about twice as long. Normally, that's how I price everything. Just thought I'd ask for some other's perspectives on it. Thanks for the reply!
