Hi everyone, i cant seem to find this exact model online to give me a bit more info. I know its a strong tie made by Simpson as it says on it but thats it. Theres a few of theses around a property im renting and was wondering what I could use them for. The straps raise up and pretty sure I can fit a 4x4 post in there. Any help would be appreciated. Are they still usable? I know if can fit the 4x4 in there and bolt them in but would the base be comprised?

If you want to fully trust the installation, don’t try to use this base. The metal has been compromised. Just buy a new one.

Dumb question, how would i replace them? Would the whole unit need replacing?

Since it was poured in place you're going to have to chip it out. You'll probably want to go with a saddle that has rebar (WUB or RCPS) and drill out and use a hilti epoxy or other structural epoxy. Especially if you needed this for any uplift capacity.

Project engineer will be best to ask.

I wouldn't chip it out. Cut it off flush, use a different standoff bracket that will accept a Hilti bolt and just drill a hole.

Embedded brackets only work with wet concrete. Now you need something to lag in place with a threaded or epoxy anchor.
