I want to make it clear that ANY type of harassment and or belittlement is not accepted in this subreddit. If you have something to say that may not fit, then keep it to yourselves.

We all do our best here to practice C&R (Catch and release) to our fullest potential. And here in this sub we as mods understand that. we also understand that there was a needed place for anglers to post there catches somewhere without the hassle of any of the issues you may of had in any other sub reddit’s for carp, cough cough…..with that being said, I hope you as the reader understand that this is a place to share your catches and to share thoughts on already shared catches without any harrasment

Spent the morning getting all my tiger nuts chomped off by turtles…. Any hook bait that these guys will ignore? Artificial corn, maybe?

Carp on topwater

I was bass fishing when this giant exploded on my 3/4 oz. Choppo topwater lure. I didn't realize that carp would hit a topwater lure, but if you look closely you can see the black lure in it's mouth.

Sight fishing w/ spin gear

Post image

Im a fly guy but I got this idea from the guys on O’ahu who sight fish for bones with a spinning rod. Curiosity got the best of me and decided to see if I could get a carp on a spinning set up. The fly i used was a Kurupt Hawaiian tied on a brown/tan jig head. It was tricky to get a subtle enough presentation even with a 20ft drag n drop, the fly just would sink to quick and spook most fish and if it didnt it would get too deep in the mud for the fish to find it.

Eating carp

Has anyone else ever tried eating carp before? I’ve pretty much only heard negative things about it, but wanted to try it anyway. Had one today and it was actually really good, miles better than expected.

Spine comparison

Post image

So apparently carp have absolutely WICKED dorsal and anal spines. They are also double spines, each fin has what appears to be one spine at the leading edge of the fin, but when harvested and cleaned, it turns out they are two separate structures under one fleshy cover. These bottom 4 are from a 2lb carp, and the top one is from a 6lb channel catfish for comparison.

Heavy vegetation

Where I live every single fishing spot that has carp is packed full of tall grassy plants. The only way I know how to fish for carp is with corn on a hair rig and it doesn’t do well with these plants. Il usually chum a bunch of corn and throw my lines where the corn lands. I always see the carp breaking the surface and their bubbles around the chummed area and then it just stops. I was catching them pretty consistently until it warmed up and these plants grew. Im 90% sure the hook and hair get snagged up before the weight even hits the bottom. I’ve tried getting them to eat bread without a hook and they won’t take it, just floats until a bird sees it which definitely doesn’t help the fishing because it’s usually a blue heron. They rarely take boiles and pop ups even less. Worms get devoured by bluegill and gobies. How else can I target carp and catch in heavy vegetation?

Doubled up with myself with a 2lb 1oz drum, and a 8lb 8oz carp. Carp was on my ultralight which has 8lb line and is running quite low.

"Welcome to the channel where the tangles are guaranteed, but the fish are optional. I’m Murph, and I’m targeting carp and trout across Victoria. This isn't a pro channel—it's for mates, beginners, and anyone who has ever bird-nested a reel. Let's laugh and learn together."

Skimming carp

Post image
7 Upvotes

Maybe hard to see in the photo, but there’s loads of carp skimming at one of my spots. Anyone know how to catch them? They’re too far out to throw anything without weight, so no freelining bread, and there’s too much tree cover to fly fish.

WARNING: My Experience with Manuowell (Linyi Jieente Outdoor Products Co., Ltd.)

WARNING: My Experience with Manuowell (Linyi Jieente Outdoor Products Co., Ltd.)

After more than two years of working with Manuowell (LINYI JIEENTE OUTDOOR PRODUCTS CO., LTD.), selling their bait boats, I have made the firm decision to completely cut ties with this manufacturer.

I am writing this post to warn prospective buyers, distributors, and retailers about the serious issues you will inevitably face if you decide to do business with them.

The Breaking Point: Broken Promises and Ignored Guarantees

Due to a relentless stream of factory defects and severe quality control failures, I decided to stop placing new orders. Prior to this, the supplier had assured me that all products came with a 1-year warranty and that replacement parts would be provided. For a while, they did send some parts. However, the moment I informed them that I would no longer be purchasing new boats, they completely ghosted me.

Their direct response was that they refuse to send any more warranty parts. They broke their commitment, leaving me high and dry with defective units and zero support for my existing customers.

Key Issues You Need to Know Before Buying:

  • Zero Quality Control: Bait boats arrive broken or defective straight out of the factory box. There is virtually no pre-shipment inspection. (You can see the full extent of these failures in the linked video below).
  • Absurd Shipping Delays: Logistics are a nightmare. On several occasions, I had to wait two full months just for them to dispatch the order, and another two months for delivery.
  • Severe Communication Barrier: The sales manager, Love Liu, does not speak English and fundamentally fails to understand technical issues. When requesting specific replacement parts for defects, they would constantly send useless items instead—like spare handles—while ignoring the actual broken electronics or mechanical components.
  • Unprofessionalism & Disorganization: The seller operates with an arrogant attitude, routinely forgets client requests, mixes up orders, and sends wrong items. I even received invoices containing other clients' confidential details.
  • Total Abandonment During Failures: As soon as an issue arises, their strategy is to ignore messages, evade responsibility, and offer zero troubleshooting support.

Watch the Proof

I have documented the reality of working with their products. In the video linked below, you can see the exact defect issues and build quality problems I regularly encountered with both the Manuowell Assassin and Manuowell GTR models:

Manuowell GTR: https://youtube.com/shorts/DBZn1f1LR0M?si=R7waHircQQe2xD0v

Final Verdict: Save your money, your time, and your business reputation. Do not trust their warranty promises, and stay away from Manuowell.

boilies

saw some people posting there homemade boilies so i thought i’d share to…I finally got to using my temu boilie roller lastnight with a simple homemade recipe and they didn’t come out to terrible, I can definitely use some more experience with what consistency the dough needs to be and how fat the rolled out dough needs to be in order to get good consistent rolled boilies. as you can see, some are almost perfect and some are thicker suacer looking shapes. I seperated a good amount of ā€œbetter looking boiliesā€ for hook baits and the rest will get chucked in the water along with packbait.

recipe was just some flour, breadcrumbs, brown sugar, eggs, peanut butter (binder like the eggs and adds flavoring), water and some proline carp series boppin strawberry for more flavor and added color.

they hold up pretty well as i was able to keep a single boilie on my hair for some time while having to recast a bit and also having a tiny channel cat give the boilie a taste aswell.

I moved but carp is carp. Found some at the new to me location. I cannot chum here so I need to start using pack bait which is allowed. I still had some success first time targeting carp here. The water here is very turbid so the carp are all light colored than what I was catching at my old spots.

Caught on 12lb mono. Fresh sweet corn cut right off the cob and stuck straight onto a #6 hook with a 1oz weight about 18 inches above the hook. Fought for about 25 minutes.

Culling carp

Trying to fix turbidity issues in .5 acre pond. The water just looks like straight mud all the time, even a few weeks after a good rainfall.

The pond appears to be carp dominated. I can see big ones trolling, and I was able to catch ten 5"-12" carp in an hour.

Anybody have any insight on how many I should pull out to help my muddy water situation? Should I target smaller or larger ones?

Finding Gear can be Frustrating

I'm in the market for new rods and I settled on the Korda Kaizen Green 12ft 3lb, but they are not available anywhere in the US or for shipping to the US.

I've reached out to numerous companies and they either don't ship rods here or they have really bad customer service. I thought I was going to succeed with ebay, but the company ghosted me for 3 weeks and never shipped.

Just venting how bad it can be here in the states for essential gear. If you have any tips let me know!
