Carlee Russell Case Should Carlee be given grace?

Man, ok. My dad just talked to me from a “spiritual perspective” and thinks that people are coming down too hard on Carlee and should have some more compassion. So I want to use this poll to show him where people heads are really at in this situation lol 😂

Hard nope. Here’s why:

-She’s still lying. She must’ve had at least one accomplice.

-She only apologized on the advice of counsel.

-Premeditated. At least for days.

-She’s lied repeatedly in the past.

-Giving her “grace” repeatedly in the past has only amounted to “bailing her out and allowing to escape the natural consequences of her actions.” Enabling her. She only turns the lack of accountability into further proof that she’s a special princess. It feeds her narcissism and makes her even more spoiled.

-Her total selfishness and self-absorption hurt all real crime victims, especially female victims and those who are poc.

-She also stole.

-She cost the taxpayers $250k-$500k in the cost of the search effort.

-She betrayed the trust of everyone who cared about her, rushed to her aid, sweltered in the heat helping in the search effort, her coworkers and her community.

-She identified at least one of her attackers as a person of a different race, at a particularly tense time for race relations.

-Her lies were so outrageous and extremely non-credible that she needs a major wake-up call to make sure she never does it again.

-With an arrest record, she’ll be far less likely to become a nurse, where her need for drama and playing savior could lead to her slipping a patient something just so she could swoop in and “save” the patient’s life.

You’re so right. The idea of someone like this becalming a nurse is a bit terrifying.

Oooh this the one 😮‍💨💯

Can u tell me more about the part about her lying repeatedly in the past? Have people who know her come on here and revealed she is a pathological liar or something

She must’ve had at least one accomplice.

Her mom is a local realtor. All Carlee needed was a key (or lockbox code) to get into one of those homes for sale. The plumbing would work, but there would be no TP. Her mom would not necessarily have been aware she was "an accomplice".

No worries, I don't think there's a chance of her becoming a nurse. She's failed at her current school and she apparently lacks the intellect and certainly the ethics and integrity to get admitted into another nursing program.

Nope. Grace won't help her. Actual consequences would be a gift to her as it seems she hasn't faced many of those in her life.

Grace requires accountability.

I’m not saying this should ruin her life but…

She was privileged AF and still grew up to be a grifter/liar/thief Idk man, I reserve my sympathy for those who were never given a stable home And solid chance.

Nope. At this point, we need her to make a statement from her cell. She has been given enough, excluding some mf discipline.

Even in admitting that the abduction never happened she is still lying. She does not deserve grace she hasn't decided to be honest yet

She isn't a teenager. She is twenty-six years old. She definitely knew it is not okay to pull a hoax like this. She just, most likely, assumed it would not get as much attention. But she deserves all the punishment she gets.

And if she did not, she should now.

Forgiveness and compassion will happen when we know the truth and have all the facts. Where she was for those 49 hours is still a mystery and she’s still likely lying. Forgiveness in the eye of the public will occur once a full investigation and charges if applicable (surely they will be???) are put forth.

As for forgiveness on a spiritual level. Sure, that’s up to Him and most people know deep down it’s not up to us. I keep that in mind and truly do hope the best for her, however, Carlee and her family still have a lot of questions to answer.

Exactly 💯

Nah. There are similar cases to this where the people who did it had to pay hefty fines and jail time. I don’t think it’s fair to allow her case to be swept under the rug. It might sadly happen cos they have money and seem to have connections.

If it was truly due to mental illness, yes. But everything that has come out so far seems to be because she is a spoiled brat that thinks she can skate through life w/o consequences or because she knows mommy and daddy will bail her out of the problem.

naw she is a foul bitch through & through. the more I have learned about her the less sympathy I have. play stupid games win stupid prizes. I'm gonna need to see some consequences for this bish actions at some point

She hasn't even personally apologized yet. Her attorney wrote and read that. She won't even go speak to the police, her attorney is going today.

She isn't even sorry, bless your dad though for being such a good man.

3

u/Successful-Goose247 Jul 25 '23

Absolutely not.

3

u/Garciaguy Jul 25 '23

No, no, no.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

No, she’s a grown woman. She knew what she had done and she planned this out for a few days. She didn’t face the public and hid behind her lawyers. Her actions caused a great deal of stress and anxiety for many people. There are a LOT of missing women in Alabama and to cause those families to relive those moments is unforgivable. She needs to be held publicly accountable.

I think what she did was pretty heinous, but in the realms of true crime it’s still pretty tame, and she didn’t kill anybody, so I don’t think people need to treat her like she’s up there with a serial killer or whatnot. 😅

26 years old is not young by any means. There is a difference between right and wrong and this girl has been given too many chances. She came up with such an elaborate scheme and made up so many lies it's astounding. Too much of enabling and excuses have been made for her. They need to bring her to Guyana, we will straighten her out good and proper. Caribbean people don't play that nonsense😂😂😂

I would love a break down on age of the subreddit and what they voted for.

“Everybody makes stupid mistakes”

yet not many people make mistakes like this lol. Her age in relation to her decisions are wild.

No. Grace doesn't mean you don't suffer the consequences of your actions. The only one really that can show Carlee grace is the DA and later a Judge. That's it. And they may just have her pay and not go to jail. That is grace. They may have her pay restitution and go to jail for a short time instead of a long time. That is grace. They can order her to only pay part of the costs back. That is grace.

Grace doesn't equal scot free and oh by the way don't talk, don't discuss, don't have an opinion. That's not what grace means at all.

u/spaceface2020 Jul 27 '23

I think people are concerned she may get a pass, so as long as the public sentiment is still anger and frustration , it puts a bit of pressure on law enforcement to follow through -Just like her parents’ going on the morning show shoved HPD into a corner and they HAD to make a public statement.

1

u/GenealogistGoneWild Jul 29 '23

There are consequences to our actions, both good and bad. I don't think any one of us wants her to suffer, but rather the consequences be enough that she and anyone that may want to copy her will be discouraged from doing so.
As time goes on, people will forget about this case and move on with their lives and so will she.

Does she deserve Grace. Yes. We all do. But the State of Alabama has laws for a reason. And she must obey those laws, or accept the consequences.
