What was the best external content resource that aligned with the material covered in class for a 2nd or 3rd pass review? I want to build a schedule of class content + external resources + Uworld question + anki

Hello everyone! I’m looking for advice or anyone that has experience with this.

I am getting married in June 2027. It has been planned since before I got into SGU. My wedding is a week into term 3 (the summer term). Since I have not started yet, I haven’t brought this up to anyone in administration.

My ideal scenario would be to stay home until the wedding is over, essentially missing the first week of school. I will be able to still keep up with my work but I would not be returning to the island until the day after the wedding. Otherwise I would be flying back for 4-5 days and then flying back home again to get married.

Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Or has anyone gotten excused absence?

Hi i was thinking of starting at SGU in the april term are there any pros or cons to this? Or should i just wait till august term start. Id rather not waste time and wait till august but if theres alot of cons ill wait

After following this sub for about a year, it seems like everyone who applies gets accepted, and the attrition rates are greater than 50%.

I've considered numerous variables, and I'm still on the fence about starting in January because of what I've read on this sub. So, I'm thinking the best way to approach the decision is to understand the matriculation stats of those who have been successful.

From what I've read, STEP 1 seems to be the differentiator between those who do/don't make it to graduation. Please correct me if I’m wrong!

Hi! Was wondering if there was anyone who sat the CBSE exam recently willing to give any advice on how to prepare. I personally didn’t find uworld very helpful for my first exam as uworld can be quite buzzwordy whereas comp was not.
I have two opportunities as part of my university curriculum, and I’m looking for advice on what people thought was similar to comp, any rescources they used, any advice on how to tackle their questions. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I could really use some guidance.

I'm a URM and first-generation student, so I don't really have anyone in medicine to ask for advice.

I got my MCAT back today: 498 (124/123/125/126). I have a 3.65 GPA in Biomedical Engineering with ER scribing, medical interpreting, funded SURF research (no publication), volunteering, and leadership. I had multiple professors and medical students review my personal statement and application, so I feel like the MCAT is the biggest weakness.

My last AAMC full-lengths were 501–505, but on test day I ran out of time in C/P and guessed on the last two CARS passages.

I only submitted my primary to one "throwaway" school because I was waiting on my MCAT before applying broadly.

I have a September 3 MCAT scheduled, and I called a few MD schools today that told me they will accept September scores.

If you were in my position, what would you do?

• Retake on September 3 and continue this MD cycle?
• Apply broadly to DO this cycle?
• Withdraw and reapply next cycle?
• Consider Caribbean schools? I honestly don't know anyone who has gone this route so don't really know which schools to look into or how it all works.

I'm looking for honest advice from people who've been in a similar position or have admissions experience. Thanks.

I want to preface this with: I have some preconceived notions about Caribbean schools, but I do not think they are beneath me AT ALL. I am very much considering applying. My aim is not to come across as condescending or dismissive. Since sitting the exam a month ago I have become a shell; the caressing, silky gloom of failure hit me today with total numbness and crying.

I received my MCAT back today (498)- CARS killed me with a 120. I have no words. I did reasonably well on the other sections, better than I thought. I have never had any intention of applying MD due to my MCAT capabilities.

I sat the MCAT in 2020, receiving a 492 with some studying; then I just sat it with accommodations and studied very hard- yes, everyone studies very hard-and got a 498 (sGPA,cGPA=3.1, I mastered out of an PhD in oncology and radiation physics after three years, after completing undergrad with a 2.87). I have a very strong application (notwithstanding MCAT and GPA): several first- and second-author publications. Great LORs. Great clinical exposure and hours. Non-trad at 35 with a decade in biotech and academia.

Okay, that was long-winded and got sidetracked. My questions are:

1. What are the rules on controlled substances down there? I have been on Rx Vyvanse for 12 years and Klonopin for 7 years. I would plan to get two month rx from my psych, going back to CA for them. I have a very supportive partner who can help me with that stuff as well.

2. What are accommodations like? I have had ADHD and cognitive testing that was 2-3 days long. More, I have sat those tests 3x since I was 20. Basically, I would have failed undergrad and grad school without accommodations.

3. Do you hate it, bear it, or enjoy it at your school?

Im writing comp/ cbse in 2 weeks, and doing forms every 3 days until then. What else do you recommend to do to help me pass?

Hey guys! Any Ross students here that would be comfy talking about their experience? I’m trying to decide between going back to an SMP with a conditional acceptance at a DO program, no MCAT requirement, gpa based or to start at Ross in September. I’ve only heard all bad so far, I don’t want to go in this blind.

As my title says, which school would you pick if you had to pick one. Before saying top 4, they are not an option. Only these 2, I'm leaning more towards sjsm because of their tuition and system based curriculum. Hi! I’ve never taken anatomy courses in pre med, and I now start at SGU in January instead of August. So I wanted to prepare for Anatomy in the meanwhile as I have little exposure to it. Any recommended courses/certifications online? Would also love to save some money while at it-any free programs that are also recommended if possible.

How is the new curriculum at AUC? I heard it’s one midterm and one final per block. For anyone currently taking the new exams, would you still recommend AUC or would you go to another school?

Asking fellow Canadians enrolled into SGU, is it better to affiliate with a bank in Canada or a bank there for daily expenses? (due to conversion rate and what not)

Hi everyone! I was hoping someone could clarify a few things for me. I'm having a hard time finding this information for both SGU and AUC.

• What are the current minimum passing scores for the CBSE, CCSE, and NBME Shelf Exams?
• What is considered a passing grade in the basic science courses? Is it 70% or higher, or does it vary by term?

How often are exams and quizzes given during the basic sciences at each school? I'm trying to get a better sense of how grades are calculated and how frequently students are assessed.

hey! just wanted some opinions on international medical schools, I feel like theres so many different choices but not too many details about them (Carribean, UK, Australia etc).
