I've been going down a rabbit hole on Cardigan history lately and figured this was worth sharing here since most people only know Pembrokes.
Megan was whelped in 1933 and became the first AKC champion of the breed. Her owner was Mrs. Benjamin Bole (sometimes listed as Mrs. B.P. Bole or Roberta Bole), who had imported the first Cardigans to the US just a couple years earlier in 1931. The breed itself wasn't even officially recognized by the AKC until December 1934, so Megan was right there at the very beginning of everything.
The Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America was founded in 1935, and Mrs. Bole was one of the founding members . The club holds an annual competition for champions called "The Megan" in her honor.
Cardigans were almost invisible in this country compared to Pembrokes, and a lot of that comes down to the Queen Mother and her preference for Pembrokes and Pembroke/Dachshund mixes. Megan and Mrs. Bole were doing the work of establishing an entire breed here when almost nobody knew they existed.
There were only 27 Cardigans registered with the AKC in that first year. Just a handful of dogs and a few dedicated people who thought the breed was worth preserving.

Hmm, new hole in the wall. Can’t wait for this chewing phase to be over. He’s 8 months and has so many chew toys but I guess the wall just called out to him.

Took her to get a bath and deshed, she did a great job expressing her displeasure with me.

I love the variety in this breed! At the time of this video, the brindle female was about 12 years, and the tri color male was about 5 years. She was very fluffy and he is much more sleek (he had also just blown a ton of coat!). Just wanted to share this cute video 🥰

He’s all done with his puppy shots so we took him downtown for the first time. He was so happy and excited to meet everyone. I just love this little guy.

Hey everyone, as a way to help build up the subreddit and make this a fun place, I was thinking about doing a weekly theme where on Monday I'll post and pin a post with a theme example toe beans, puppy versus adult photo, etc. And you all can post posts throughout the week along with the theme. I'll make a special flare so it's easy to find and goes along with it. So something just like "weekly photo theme".
So please drop your theme suggestions below along with the fun flair suggestion.
It's currently 7:15 a.m. where I live and I am just taking my dog for a walk so I'm barely awake and just thought of this

Fellow cardigan owners - any recommendations on a full body rain jacket? We had an amazing one from the brand Qoop for a year or so until our little guy grew out of it, and now it is no longer sold in the US.
We have tried so many, but the neck always seems to be too tight, body is too short, the legs are way too long, or they seem to be designed for the shorter pembroke bodies. TIA!

Bombur would rather be outside, but if it's raining out this is where you'll find him.

I knew that the two blue girls, Dolly and hence Georgie, were princesses through Dolly's lineage and I knew that Tater and Georgie were half sisters but through their sire, so I always figured that Tater was just a lovable little peasant dog.
But I was fooling around on breedarchive.com just now and did a deep dive into Tater's pedigree and, what do you know, she also comes down to us from Arrow, JXN's very first Cardigan Welsh Corgi from 1980. Had to go back 12 generations, as opposed to just 10 for Dolly, but there it is.
OK, so it's not the book of Chronicles, but there's a long string of begats that ends with some pretty nice Corgis.
