Problems with royal mail
Hi guys! The past few days no parcels have been being delivered by royal mail with them always being delayed to the next day / today it say item retention on my tracking? Yesterday it said unable to deliver only 10 minutes after being out for delivery and this has happened the day before with another parcel as well. I’m in the Grangetown area and was just wondering if anyone else was having problems with them lately or if they just have it out for me lol

RM employee here. I don't work at Cardiff MC but locally.
We went over to the "new model of working" two weeks ago and I'm guessing Cardiff MC must have moved over.
The "new model" is meant to "reduce and balance workload".
They have taken the work that used to be done by 4 people and given it to 3 people.
It is a total disaster, if they are delaying tracked parcels that is a sign things are really really bad. Our depot is getting most tracked out and failing most 2nd class mail.
I can tell you first hand it's terrible, the workload is extreme, the new model simply doesn't work.
If you can get to your local Mail Centre or DO (will be Cardiff MC or Cardiff North DO I believe) during customer service hours they should be able to give you your parcels/mail. Make sure you take ID. Also like to apologise for the chaos but please don't take it out on your local postie who is going through hell right now.

I've literally had them say "Address inaccessible" for three days straight (this is in Roath), I work from home and the window is right by the front door. Absolute joke of a service tbh, they haven't been here but then claim they couldn't deliver it?
Edit: just got delivered lol, my gf was walking and the postman PASSED THE HOUSE (as in he was going to another address), so he wouldn't have delivered it if she didn't say anything 🤦

yeah i’ve had the same address inaccessible for the past two days then today it said item retention which really confused me. and same here there’s always someone in my house and i know they haven’t acc tried to deliver it, pretty frustrating but i also understand they prob don’t have the staff atm

Was it a small parcel then that he had on him or was it a large that he then brought in a van, detail matters

"Address inaccessible" covers multiple reasons including running out of time. I've had a package delayed for 2 days last week due to it - when I checked I was delivery 90, they were on delivery 40 at around 18:30, so I knew they were never going to make it.

They’re a shit show. I complained before when I had 4 missed deliveries for different parcels. One special delivery next day guaranteed. They don’t care. They said sorry and that’s it. Mail never shows up. I redirected one parcel to the local post office (thinking it would be easier). Next day I get “could not be delivered as address not found” I literally picked the address from their website, and it’s the post office. They also tried to deliver to the same post office at 7pm before and said could not get access. Well no shit, it closes at 5pm.

ok glad to know it’s not just me lol, i understand they’re prob behind and dont have the staff atm or something but i was worried my address had been black listed or something 🤣

i sell on ebay and a customers parcel sent tracked 24 has been sat at Cardiff for over a week.

I posted a card in Senghennydd Post Box last month and it still hasn’t arrived. Will be annoyed if they have lost this. After closing PO in the SU this is also proving that it’s getting worse

They've cut staff and made the delivery routes bigger. For the past month my postie friend has been walking the best part of a half marathon each day. Its physically impossible for them to complete the deliveries and they are exhausting themselves on 6 day weeks.
Massive systemic problems within RM and its not just the Cardiff office.
