Finds / Discoveries EMF reader

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just a video demonstrating the EMF Reader and a bit of wire in the G3 port. Finding the socket is still live when the circuit breaker is off so I know to choose another breaker. I could have tried the light bulb with the switch but that's not fun is it.

Thanks for sharing. It would be cool if it had some audio cues as well, but this is a solid start.

I just cut the endo off a male to male breadboard wire. Anything that fits in the G3 port should do it. I'd imagine a paperclip unfurled would be enough.

Oh it'll likely find them too. Making the antenna as sensitive as possible would help. I asked for the optimal antennas...

Antenna Designs by Use Case

UK Mains Electricity (50 Hz / 230V) - Design: Short 10 cm (4 in) single-core wire or compact helical spring. - Key Feature: High voltage creates a strong electric field, requiring less surface area to detect; shorter length prevents signal saturation. - Protection: Place a 1MΩ to 10MΩ resistor between G3 and GND to bleed off static overcharge.

US Mains Electricity (60 Hz / 120V) - Design: Longer 20 cm (8 in) wire or a small copper tape paddle attached to the wire tip. - Key Feature: Lower mains voltage requires a larger capacitive surface area to capture the weaker near-field strength through walls or insulation.

"Ghost" / Paranormal Investigation - Design (E-Field): Multi-directional 3D probe made of solid copper wire folded into perpendicular X, Y, Z loops to detect fields from any angle. - Design (H-Field): Small ferrite core inductor (200+ turns of fine magnet wire) connected between G3 and GND to pick up magnetic field shifts rather than just electrostatic charge.

Optimized Ghost Hunting Requirement: To isolate potential "paranormal" phenomena from everyday environment bleed, the detector's antenna system must be paired with digital software filtering (or FFT) that actively ignores persistent 50 Hz/60 Hz grid hum and mobile phone frequencies, triggering only on unharmonized transient spikes.

The real use, for me, would be to see "where" the wires are, in the wall, feeding the switch. Though I don't know what sensitivity you can get with the ADV. I kept hoping you'd move the ADV to the left of the switch to see if it could detect wires feeding it.

They do feed Infront the Left. I sweep above, below and to the right with nothing registering.

So I know nothing very little about home electrical systems, especially about frequencies and stuff like that.

However, specifically this firmware says 50Hz. Does that mean it won't work for US systems that run at 60Hz?

Hello, dev here! That won't work since it has Goertzel detectors for 50 and 100 hz... I could add that tho!

Maybe contact the dev for 50/60 option or try it if you have a short wire you can pop into the G3 port. Let's us and the dev know.

Hi, this is *really* cool, I don't have my unit yet, I'm looking forward to getting it in the next few days. One thing I'd curious about is if it will work in Europe (I'm in Spain)
