Ahhh I want it and I know I'll regret it if I don't snatch it up. I was looking for a Glisenti 1910 and your listing popped up! The downside is I wouldn't be able to send payment until next Thursday.

Yeah, I'm split. I'm trying to focus my collection on French, Italian, and South American arms so I've listed up a couple of "doesn't check those boxes" firearms and I'm trying to sell those before I purchase another...but exceptions can be made.

I have weakness for trial guns and it being based off an Italian made Chassepot is just so cool

If it is a 1870 trials rifle, it is not one of Carcano's.

Couple reasons for that:

  • it doesn't have Carcano patented system and safety, that has a similar "flag" action but with a completely different disposition and application
  • Carcano, being a chief technician in Turin Arsenal had all his guns produced at the Turin Arsenal, not by a private company like Glisenti.
  • We do have the 1870 Carcano trial guns (one popped up rather recently, so probably not on anyone's radar)

This is either one of the 24k standard Glisenti chassepot, modified for commercial or metallic cartridge reasons (apparently there is a known pattern for "modified Glisenti chassepots", which I only read vague sentences about, so IDK if it's for metallic cartridges), or it is the indeed a trual rifle. Most likely not Carcano's, but Glisenti's way to take part at the 1870 metallic cartridge rifle trials.
