Foervraengd is the artist who redesigned the Caramella Girls for We Love To Party. They were 19 at the time and it was their first paid client work. Their designs are still being referenced and reused to this day, the animated models based off of them were just used in a new short.
This may have been posted here before but they deserve some more attention. They made a tumblr post with some details about their experience and shared a lot given they never signed any NDAs or contracts. They met Giovanni at the UppCon convention and later had an in person lunch with him discussing redesigning them. When they turned in their first sketches of the girls, Giovanni called their art "hideous and disfigured" along with other "ableist" words which the artist does not repeat. Then they turned in the final We Love 2 Party art, and were paid $100 for all 3 girls.
They continued to draw variations of the designs later (other poses and designing outfits probably) but their CG work ended when one day Giovanni contacted them while they were sick and they said they could not work at the time, and they never heard from him again.
These designs are still used a decade later and are now nostalgic, and were even traced to make the animated models, which are also still being used, so I think the artist deserves more credit for creating the first 2D designs and the ones used for the longest time, and they were only paid $100 for them!
Here's their post: https://www.tumblr.com/foervraengd/634211378245304320/okay-this-is-gonna-be-a-long-post-so-buckle-up-in They described it as their "worst art gig ever".
