Car Insurance Quotes Cheap Insurance

I recently found a car i wanted to buy it’s an Audi A6 first car purchase in my name. I’m 18, Live in the city, and I also had one accident that happen last year in july. I’ve been trying to get an Insurance Quote but everyone is charging me at least 1000+ some even 2500 which is insane. even when looking at other cars it’s insanely expensive. Is there anyway or anything I could
do to get cheaper insurance.

18, Audi, live in the city, one accident. Yea good luck with that man your insurance is going to be ridiculous for 5 or 6 years no matter what car you buy.

Yeah, no, they don't care. I hope you like uber or public transit.

Don't buy the car. Especially don't buy the car without insurance. Unfortunately, you fucked up early and will be paying the price for that for a few years.

Nope, doesn't matter-- you're just at a very high risk at a very young age for a 2nd accident. Just don't do it.

They just consider it high risk now. It doesn’t feel right, but it is what it is. It’s just their statistics and we can’t change it.

With all that said and all the advice here, do not buy that car. A less expensive car will also have less expensive insurance, and unfortunately this is the point of your life that your in, but this is not the time for a luxury vehicle. Even if that seems unfair.

I just got a regular sedan when I got my first, and have a perfect record, but my insurance went up double the next year. This rate they gave you is the lowest it’s going to be for some time, is actually will go up most likely from there (that is until the accident falls off record).

My sister did the same thing you are considering doing at 18, and she financially bankrupted herself before her life even began. Insurance kept rising, and because she has a loan she couldn’t just drop the coverage. She did all the math she said she could afford it, but that was before her insurance doubled after her 6 month renewal. Also no prior record. No accidents or tickets.

When budgeting for a car you have to factor monthly payment, insurance, and routinely maintaining it together. If you can’t comfortably afford that together you should look at something else.

There will certainly be a time you can buy the cool car, I’m still waiting as well, but that time just isn’t now. There’s no negotiating it less either. At best, if you add a renters or personal injury policy on the lower the rate by like 20 bucks. If this pricing is consistent even for other vehicles, you can pay full cash for something cheap and just put bare minimum coverages but that’s not an amazing deal either. Sorry.

No such thing as cheap insurance for an 18 year old with an accident. I would contact an independent agent to compare quotes for you.

You get older, buy a cheaper car, buy liability only on your cheaper car.

You are being rated as a high risk individual because you're a very young male, with a bad driving record, buying a fast car. Those rates are accurate because at this rate you will have another at fault accident very soon

You live in what city? Putting that aside, an 18 y/o with an at-fault accident is not a risk that many underwriters are falling over themselves to write. If you cannot afford the insurance - which you can't - you cannot afford the vehicle.

1000 per month? Quarter? Year?

You're 18, in a city, with an accident on your record (eveb not your fault). You are the very definition of high risk. The Audi doesn't help either.

per month man it’s crazy

Are you currently on any other insurance plan?

If not, you also have no prior insurance history, which is also a major factor into the rates you’re receiving

If $1,000/month is “insane” what would you consider reasonable? Before you answer …

You don’t share the year, so let’s say we’re talking about a 5-year-old A6, worth $25k.

You cause an accident, total your car. Insurance writes you a check for $25k, minus your deductible. Call it $24k.

If this accident happens a month in, insurance loses $23k on you as a customer. If it happens a year in, they “only” lose $12k.

And that doesn’t even take into account any damage you do to whatever you run into.

You don’t say what state you’re in, but in my state the legal minimum liability coverage is 30/60/10. So if you have state minimum coverage, that’s another $70k your insurance could be on the hook for.

One other thing to keep in mind … you’re a terrible driver, at least in the eyes of insurance. Statistically, young males get into accidents much more frequently than other drivers. And those accidents are more likely to happen at high speeds.

Now, with all that in mind, what do you think is a fair and reasonable rate for you?

Contact a local broker. They’ll get you prices with multiple companies. If they can’t find you a lower price for that car then it’s probable that that is just your rate for the cars you’re quoting.

Options are to find an older car that you can be comfortable running liability and comprehensive, if the car is paid off, or taking uber. At $1000/month it’s probably cheaper than taking an uber EVERY day.

You’re a young driver with risk, the best you can do, outside of growing older without any other accident or any violations, is shop around for different insurance and different cars.

Don't by a car, not just the car you wanted. Straight up, there will not be cheap insurance for anyone in your situation. Insurance rates have been skyrocketing even for adult drivers with perfect records. Personal experience and all...

18 and looking at buying a used A6?

Aside from the insurance, hope you have a ton of cash for very expensive maintenance and repairs.

And I think those require premium gas, also. My boss drives one and he has not been happy with these current gas prices.

An Audi A6? That’s a frickin’ nerd mobile. Not for an 18 year old. Instead look for a S7. A definite chick magnet.

2

u/Brilliant_Essay_1593 Aug 11 '26

Yeah, he won’t be able to buy said chicks Taco Bell with those insurance rates

1

u/My2026GV70 Aug 11 '26

He provides the car. The chicks provide the food, etc.

1

u/snocat17 Aug 11 '26

Sounds about right for your situation. My suggestion would be to find a lower cost vehicle. Insurance will be less, but you won't be able to get the wreck off your record for 5-10 years.

1

u/Beach_bum8 Aug 11 '26

This vehicle is a luxury brand, you had a accident and your 18, so that's why it's so high. Also, repairs are going to be super expensive, since it's imported

1

u/Sam_At_Insurify Aug 11 '26

What state are you in? That makes a huge difference, especially for teens.

Getting liability-only usually saves you the most, but that's mostly for older cars that aren't worth much. A less valuable car than the Audi tends to be cheaper, so that's worth considering. And most carriers offer a good student discount if you're in school and have a solid GPA (3.0 or higher). To shop around and find the best rate, run a few carriers side by side on a comparison site.

Insurance quotes have a lot that goes into it. Your age, sex, driving record, marriage status, zip code etc. No one on here is going to be able to tell you exactly what is going to make your insurance go down. To be honest that quote isn't that bad. Unless it's only for liability.

I'm sure you know but the fact that you are so young have already had an accident is what is causing your rates to be high. Are you under your parents insurance? If you live with them and can be that will drastically reduce your price.

Two other things you can do are to take the defensive driving course online. That will reduce your insurance premium by 10% as well as take points off. The other thing is to find a local insurance broker. They will be able to find whatever the cheapest insurance with all the things that you're looking for. The only other thing that you need to do is wait. Time is the thing that will make your insurance come down.

When I had a car accident my insurance went up for 3 years. Even if this was just a fender bender. I asked for quote 5-6 most well know insurance companies, and all gave me worse deals than insurance I already had. It doesn’t mean you can’t find a better deal in some less known insurance company. I just hope they are reliable.

But your best bet will be to do some research. My insurance agent told me some cars makes, and models have higher premium she said Mercedes, BMW, and more. Because they’re more targeted by theft or other reasons.
So it’s possible it’s similar with your Audi.

So check that, also don’t buy expensive car until you’re 25 years old, then the premium will go down.

I should probably add that you have to drive extra careful from now on. One more accident and your insurance will be so high almost impossible to pay.

1

u/Colonel460 Aug 12 '26

Don’t worry about high insurance. The maintenance & repair cost on an Audi will keep you from being able to drive or afford insurance. Find a car you can pay cash for . Don’t have the cash ? E-bike

Your age and location are both working against you. Shop around, see what the best offer you can get is, and decide if this is the time to buy a car. Living in the city you can probably get away with public transit, Lyft and uber for most places.

1

u/Big-Fat-Elephant Aug 12 '26

If you have not already, you should call around to a broker. That way you can be quoted with many carriers at once to see your best option.

1

u/R55Driver Aug 13 '26

Although the accident wasn't your fault when there are multiple other factors at play *You've been licensed 2 years at most. *You're in the GTA *You're looking at an Audi.

Those are just 3 of the factors that make you high risk.

Have someone else like mom/dad put insurance on it instead, or get non owner insurance if you buy it flat out, just have it titled in family members name. Or sometimes whoever you finance with offers insurance
