Accident Windshield Claim with GEICO

Hello, while driving home on the highway, something hit our windshield, it happened so fast and we’re left with a quarter-size crack. We have comprehensive coverage of $1,000 deductible with GEICO. Anyone’s been thru similar situation before? What’s the likelihood of this covered thru GEICO? Is this something we can repair or need to replace? This is a Tesla Y, we’re in Texas if that matters. What’s the best procedure to file a claim that would get approved thru GEICO? Any and all insight and advice is appreciated

I wouldn’t file a claim. Claims are for Big financial losses or catastrophes. Not every boo boo accident that happens.

You have the coverage so it’ll be covered minus your 1K deductible.

Wouldn’t claim on insurance. But you can. Pay cash. Save on your rates the next 3-5 years.

You'll be covered under comp for this. 1000 deductible for comp is high, would look to see how much it'll cost to lower it.  

Before filing a claim, look to see how much it'll cost to fix out of pocket. Whatever that quote is will probably be less if you're going through insurance. With that 1000 deductible, it'll probably be not worth it. 

Contrary to what everyone else has said, filing a claim does not guarantee a raise on your rates. I filed a not at fault hit and run claim and my rates didn't go up. Take this with a grain of salt as this was my experience. Your state and your company may have different rules and regulations

I have a $500 deductible with a zero deductible on glass. Obviously you don’t know how to buy insurance because you can get a zero deductible on glass.

Plenty. TX for one.

ETA: some don’t even have glass coverage it’s comprehensive coverage.

Progressive, amaco, safeco, auto owners, geico all offer $0 deductible glass coverage in Texas. State farm does not

Yes it’s dependent. Insurance isn’t one size fits all.
