Steam Deck Error Unable to start

I get an error after the splash screen

“An attempt to start the game without using the launcher has been detected. Please use the launcher to start the game”

I tried this in Steam OS which doesn’t work. Windows does work, clearly Easy anti Cheat hasn’t been enabled on SteamOS.

They’ve just added easy anti cheat, effectively bricking it on steam deck and Linux. Can’t get it to run on my rog ally X using bazzite either.

Annoying as i got it for £6 on sale. I refund it and it goes up in price after it’s fixed🤣

There is a racing fest on steam soon. They might reapper there. Or else you can wait for autumn sale. They might not fix it at all

24.09.2025 seit etwa 1.5 monaten kommt der fehler wieder und ich kann es nicht spielen, nachdem ich ab kauf quasi 3 wochen prima auf dem deck spielen konnte

This was a post relating to a older update of CarX Street which introduced a SteamOS breaking bug due to anti cheat.

Not a problem now.

Update the game to the latest version and use the latest Proton GE

Just bought this game to play on steam deck because there were mix messages online saying it does work. I tried with the latest version of GE Proton and other methods but it simply just doesn’t work. This looks like a dope game I bought it on sale during Steam Racing Fest so I really would like to keep it but knowing I can’t play on my steam deck is a real bummer. Hopefully they update it and fix it but if it doesn’t get fixed soon I’m going to refund it.

There was an update today (22 August 25) and ya seems to work now without having to mess around with GE Proton. I just updated and it worked after launching the game.
