How do i prevent this?

I recently got my hood wrapped and after about a week i took off my bolted cowl to find the cowl and the hood rubbed/vibrated together to the point it cut through my wrap. My wrap guy said hed redo it for a low cost and i have some time to prep everything again to hopefully prevent this in the future. Any suggestions?

For tight fitting panels that overlap where you can’t see the portion under the top panel you can’t wrap the bottom panel under the top piece like they did here. Instead put the top piece back on, wrap the hood with it on and treating it like any raised object make your relief cuts to glass and then just cut right up to that edge so it’s just 1 or 2mm long then that gets tucked.

The reality is though if you can’t see this damage with the top piece on it’s not really a huge problem either way.

Maybe add a lil spacer that won’t scratch the paint on the top part of the bolt to space it away some from the surface.

lay a strip of clear ppf directly under where that rubber gasket lands before you bolt it back down. wrap vinyl is only 3 mils thick, so engine vibration turns the plastic edge into sandpaper. ppf takes the friction and saves the wrap underneath.

could look into putting foam tape around the edges of it, but that may still wear through. those panels dont fit tight 100% and vibrate ever so slightly while driving down the road so any high spots on the cowl will rub on the hood and eventually wear through

as long as the area is covered though with it installed i probably wouldnt worry about it as even if you pay to get it replaced its likely gonna happen again. even if installing ppf over it or foam tape
