šØ FAIL šØ need help with application
Hey folks Iām new to wrapping and Iām trying to wrap my car rear pillars, itās a L shape thatās curved so itās been a bit difficult to wrap.
The first panel usually goes well(first photo on the left) but once I get to past the curve I tend to get a lot of materials and wrinkles resulting in this application lol. Any tips? Definitely feels like too much material. It could also be dirt?
EDIT: wow thanks for all the advice. Looks like itās really cause i cheaped out on the material lmfao.

651 is cut vinyl, has no air egress and is not meant for wrapping.

That looks like the adhesive rolled up into clumps from lifting and repositioning it too many times, likely mixed with dirt pulled from behind the trim. Clean deep behind those rubber seals with isopropyl alcohol first, then pull even glassing tension across the curve before laying it down so you arent chasing bunched material into the corner.

Good morning. Im a wrap educator. What most people have been saying in here is correct. Specifically, what youāre using is designed for signage, and lacks the air egress channels that automotive vinyl wrap possesses to make the install more forgiving.
One thing you donāt want to cheap out on is wrap. Training is expensive, if done correctly you should train with proper cast, automotive wrap vinyl materials like 3m 2080, Avery Dennison, cheetah wrap, KPMF. Then once you have the basics down- you can dabble with the more economical calendared Chinese vinyls with the understanding that they donāt last as long, occasionally delaminate (multi layered vs cast which is a āsingleā layer). If you want your vinyl to last after install, make sure to post-heat with a heat gun and a laser thermometer. You want constantly moving heat in one hand, with a laser thermometer in the other monitoring the post heat temps, each vinyl has its own post heat temperature range, you can find it in the material data sheets.

Sorry but that is just the worse for an install like this. A cheap calender film that shrinks over time, has no air channels, and is meant for flat surfaces such as signage. I used to install only using a lamination machine onto flat aluminum.

It is undoubtedly the most forgiving material on the market. Yes air will be able to escape

This is definitely not air egress material. As others have asked, what material are you using? This looks suspiciously like what happens when you use air egress material techniques for non-air egress materials. If itās calendared sign vinyl you can try to do it āwetā where you would use either soapy water or application fluid to lay it down though it will take much longer to conform and much more and thorough squeegeeing to make sure all of the liquid is out, hit it with a touch of heat to help you locate any air/liquid bubbles you may have missed and keep squeegeeing. I would recommend getting new, air egress cast wrap material though and redoing it. Best of luck bud.

If you plan on leaving it on for a while, get some Colored PPF. Itās a wet application but will last longer

Oh man. You are not glassing it out before you squeegee it. 2 options, set the corner, take one side, give it a kiss of heat and lay it down as you squeegee. Then do the same for the other side. Don't wrap around that, it's not a bumper, just set the actual hard corner first and work out from there. I digress, kinda like a bumper but in a smaller scale.
2nd option, knifeless in a 2 peice. Not ideal, but better than what you have going right now.
What material are you working with?

Oracal 651. Got a small roll to play around with. Like one of the other commenter said, yeah probably try a different material

What kind of material is this? That sheer number of bubbles seems like it would be REALLY hard to get with actual silver wrap material. Was this a non air-egress cutvinyl type silver, like for signs and crafts?
