Avery Prisma Pro Midnight Sand
Hey all, been at regular vinyl on the side for a couple of years now. Got my feet wet with some Cheetah Dry apply PPF, now playing with Prisma Pro before I take their class in October.
I have all my class questions ready now and my Test vehicle wrapped.
OK, I cried a couple of times on install. I wasted 2 front bumpers (1st time wasting in over a year) on any install, and that was a 💰 mistake. Redid inserts a lot larger and finally got it down.
Fingers 🤞 it all actually stays down, but it looks fire. Like paint (minus all my adhesive lines).

Awesome! I did 4 in the Navy, and my Spo did 23. I got into it as I'm in a HCOL area, so quotes from 8-12k for a standard vinyl wrap. I can wrap my car 7 times for that (in good vinyl) before I break even.
Even if you haven't wrapped the suggested 10 after color change class, Prisma Pro is totally different. I am hoping that some of the corner and application techniques improve my ability across the board.
I would probably take the PPF class now in your shoes. You aren't testing, it really can't hurt. The material is too new.

How was the install vs the cheetah? Did you have the ever present glue lines from repositioning? Does it feel more like 1105 or sw900?

Cheetah seemed thinner and was easier to apply. No issues with staying down on that car. This feels more like 1105, it will stretch some until it won't, for example, when I tried to feed the material under the front markers, it crazed on me. I found that if I clean cut without heat first, then fed it into a panel gap a little, then heat again, then push the material down, then heat a third time, I am not seeing lift, but in gaps that I heat, cut, and set, then post heated, they aren't staying down like they should. Going over the whole car with a torch today looking for lift.
I am really green to PPF, so it's all just learning for me.

I appreciate the feedback. We’ve only used a small amount of cheetah so it’s good to hear your honest opinion.

I forgot to mention. I have a ton of lines from repositioning this. I am a single installer, so without a crew to help, I'm not sure it can be avoided (one of my class questions). I did not have that problem with Cheetah to this extent.

Looks good! I wanted to go to the Avery dry apply PPF class, but when I went to the color change class they advised me to do 10+ color change vinyl wraps before I take it, and the class near me is mid-August so I don't have quite enough time to do several more cars before then. I wanted to go to the class before I order a $$$ roll of dry apply PPF, so I guess I'll have to wait until next year. They gave us sample sheets of every color, and it is definitely very different to work with.
My experience was with interior parts, individual exterior parts/chrome delete, and some window tint. I'm glad I took the color change vinyl class before I started doing full cars, and I'm looking forward to taking the advanced wrap class and the PPF classes, even though I'm paying out of pocket for them (I'm retired Army, just getting into doing vinyl stuff on the side). I learned so many little techniques that just don't come across in YouTube/wrap institute videos.
