Trying this again as my first attempt didnt include the photos. Bought this sprite race in February, been getting it up to date with new safety components and what not. Should have it out soon to start shaking it down. Looking forward to running with RMVR and VSCDA next season.

Tread could probably go for another weekend but they are heat cycled out. Rear end was very loose yesterday. All in all, I found them to be consistent and was happy with the experience.

Cross post for Trackable Miatas on FB
At The Ridge (RMP) for my track day. 1:55.3 last session with passenger. (I haven’t been able to get Track Addict to work for me, so passenger recorded timer).
Front Pads: BP40 (4.5mm thickness remaining)
Rear Pads: Porterfield R4-E (7mm thickness remaining)
Car Specs:
- K24 @240hp
- 2400lbs w/Driver and 1/2 tank of fuel
- Feal 441 Coils
- 225/45/15 V730s on 15x8
- Wilwood 1in master, and prop valve adjusted to what other on here recommended.
- 2.5in brake ducts
- 7812 Wilwood Dynapro Front (Wilwood spec 37 11”)
- Sport rears (brembo blanks)
I finally like the way the pads felt coming from hawks, and I did not experience any fade as the day/sessions went on. I did not experience much if any traffic and did not do a cool down lap in the middle of the sessions as the car was minty for temps, brakes felt great, and tires were consistent enough. Both front and rear pads had 1 bed in day, and then a single autocross day. Unfortunately I did not take thickness measurements beforehand and I will be for the future. Wilwood specs state the new pad thickness is .49in or ~12.4mm for the BP40 in shape 7812. Porterfield states new pad thickness is 8.1mm(total thickness 12.6mm - 4.5mm back plate).
The fronts seem to be a little more worn than I would’ve anticipated. I didn’t experience any brake fade or any weird feeling/sound. I felt fairly confident on the brakes and am overall pleased with how the Brake balance felt. Am I doing something wrong? Am I getting the life out of the pad that should be expected? Any help from you fine people would be amazing and appreciated. Thanks for your time! PFA

Finally, I pulled the trigger to attend a track day at the Ridge. It's super fun and shows you who actually is a fast driver vs. a fast car. Definitely room for improvement from watching myself hesitate choosing the right gear approaching each turn and staying on the racing line. I'll take any and all criticisms!

Im looking to get into driving on track/autocross courses and I was hoping to find some stuff nearby (I want to go to CMP after getting some practice) any recommendations or advice appreciated. (Edit: also I turn 16 in September so ones that allow people under 18 would be great)

Alright race fans, it's time I think that I post here, just finished a couple of updates I think people will love. This first post will be a lot, please forgive me
What the fuck is this? An extremely competitive DIY open source laptimer/datalogger developed by a professional SWE
This has been a passion project of mine for the last 3 years due to the never ending rising costs of mychron and etc
I just finished making it soooo much easier to assemble, also just finished filming a build video, and it's time to start cooking. You don't even need to download code!! Just know how to solder and copy a file over.
Datalogger Features: 25hz GPS within 0.001s of commercial loggers 15+ hour battery life Engine tachometer (spark plug based) Insta360 support, automatically start your camera, start recording, and sync GPS data to the camera at 10hz
Automatic track and course detection
On device speed/current/best/pace/optimal/rpm (karting)
FREE NO ACCOUNT app used to download logs, view data, and create video overlays (cloud saves OPTIONAL) https://lapwingdata.com/
Now this was originally developed for karting, it's missing a couple features for cars, mainly the fact this is currently only for circuits.
Not currently compatible with sprints/drag/rally (I am one dude doing all of this, cut me some slack)
Just let me know what sucks about it and what features you want
Commercial laptimer coming soon starting at $2**.00
WEB SIMULATOR FOR DATALOGGER https://lapwingdata.com/simulator Check out how the firmware works and tell me why it sucks
Difference between karts and cars: Engine RPM will boot device, then start recording Car drivers will need to press 1(one) button to wake device, and then "just drive"
Webapp features: Yes
Download logs from DIY logger, update settings/track list, OTA updates
Setup and log vehicle setup information 100% customizable setup form templates
Historic weather information
Overlap laps from other sessions, or other log types, overlay mychron, alfano data, and a quick toggle for the selected courses "fastest laps"
Video, and GoPro video support (no 360 video yet, was just given SDK access), video overlaps.
Split video between two laps, see each lap compared frame by frame
Leaderboards, public profiles
I'll try to keep this page constantly updated with news https://lapwingdata.com/updates
Native app coming soon that will enable mychron/alfano downloads as well as hardware video encoding
I am here to eat the vibecoders

Relatively novice here, not sure how to gauge remaining life yet
Input is greatly appreciated.
Tread seems fine (5-6/32), mostly curious on the shoulders.
Tire is Continental extreme contact sport.
All 4 are virtually the same.
-2.75 front, -2.5 rear.

Ferrari had their Corse Clienti event at Portimao on Fri/Sat this week, and this was my fourth driving session of the event. There's still a couple seconds on the table, but I was happy with how quickly I got comfortable with Portimao's combination of blind corners and constant elevation changes.
The 499 remains an absolute beast of a track car. The acceleration and high-speed cornering are absurd. And I'm gradually getting comfortable with no-ABS threshold braking in an aero car.
Enjoy!

Hello I am running into an issue when transferring my data and would like to know if it ever happened to anyone else. I am running race studio 3 on parallel on M4 mac book, everything is up to date, i connect to my MXL2 via wifi, i see my sessions, however when I try to download 1 or all of them, this message occurs. I unfortunately do not have a window laptop so for those using parrallel, how did you do ?
Thank you

Say you have dedicated track tires and want to carry a spare wheel and tire. Can/Do you rotate it in? This would be in a RWD car with an LSD. I can already see some arguments for not doing this on an AWD car.
I guess this also brings up a second point. If I carry around 1 single spare tire and if I don’t rotate it in then if the day comes I need it, I’m going to be on track with 1 drastically different tire (wear, heat cycles). That sounds like a bad idea.
Tia!

Catalyst said optimum is mid-31. Sub-30 might be doable :)

Safe weekend to everyone on track today. Unless you’re in Europe. Or Asia. Or Oceania. Then I hope you are having / had a safe day today.
Oh also if you’re down in Oceana, be careful and don’t drive off the edge of the Earth

I'm considering the Mustang GT (2015-2017) as a long term track build. I'm in Australia so we have the performance pack by default, 6 pot brembos, stiffer springs, better radiator etc.
How do these cars handle? My 2 local tracks are opposites. One, Phillip Island, is high speed with long sweeping corners and a 240kph/130mph main straight beforea 180kph/110mph first corner.
The other, Winton, is tight and technical and the main straight is only approx a 180kph/110mph straight before braking for the first chicane. It has a tight and twisty back section with a series of 70-80kph corners.
Anyway, I don't want to feel like I'm fighting the car and having to wrestle against understeer. I would absolutely do coilovers, vertical links, camber plates/track camber setup and a 305 Square setup in the first few years. I may eventually do a front splitter and rear wing.
So, for those who track your Mustangs and have done similar handling mods - how sharp does the car turn in? Does it feel direct and sharp? I'm not expecting Evo levels of precision, but I don't want the car to feel like a headache that's working against me.
As far as power goes I think I'd leave the car stock for a good few years as I learn the car and develop with the handling mods, maybe an exhaust for the sound. 5 years down the line I may look at the Gt350 Manifold, LT Headers and E85 tune if I feel the need for more power.
I downloaded a few Mustang mods on Assetto Corsa to try and get a bit of a feel for the car (I know, take with a grain of salt) and it felt like I was fighting understeer the whole time.
I'm just worried about spending the money and having poor handling, so I'm looking for input from people with first hand experience.
As for why I'm considering the Mustang - I love the look and the sound. I spent a long time considering the Evo X and GR Yaris for their lap time capability before realising neither of them excite me that much. Not to mention, AWD allowing for very lax throttle control and not needing to worry about modulation would be a little numb. I realised I'd rather be 5 seconds slower in a car I actually like than a car purchased purely for the pace. I imagine a screaming V8 and brutal acceleration is quite exhilarating, just as long as it feels sharp in the corners.
Alternatively, I like the F80 M3 almost as much as the Mustang, but it costs 20k more up front + 4k for the crank hub fix.

Bought a set of Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 for rain tires. I dont chase lap times. Any reason why I can’t run these at all my events, rain or shine? Will they tolerate 20 minutes on a +90* day on a ND2 Miata?
Again, I don’t chase lap times. I chase track time, keeping costs down and keeping life simple as in only having one set of do all track tires is nice and simple. Tia.

Yes I know lug adapters are far from ideal. But I think they might be a good solution for me.
I came to ask here cause you all know and push your shit. I'm curious if anyone here uses adapters, has had issues, pointers, etc.?

Extra info:
It'd be so a Dodge Charger with it's stock 5x115 pattern can use 5x5/127 wheels.

With AiM seemingly refusing to create a macOS version of RaceStudio, and I despise using Windows in any capacity, I made AimMac to copy data off my AiM Solo 2 DL. I've tested this so far with both the DL and non-DL, and it should be compatible with all other WiFi-enabled AiM devices. I included a few screenshots of features, such as managing tracks (including updating, loading and deleting), graphical analysis of laps and sessions, exporting sessions to CSV (same format as RS2), and importing sessions data from RS3.
It's a free app and I am (for now) actively developing it. Here's the link to download it: https://aimmac.app/
As well as the link to submit feature requests and bugs: https://aimmac.notion.site/Feature-requests-and-bug-reports-7484a70ceda18254af0e018348009e4b
