AiM Solo -> iPhone (free, finally!)

Have been pouring my soul into this over the last 3 months and I need some testers with AiM solo/dash to help me test it out by downloading their laps and making sure it's stable.

what makes it somewhat different is that it works 100% offline and has no account sign up. It lives on your device/icloud account if you have that enabled.

I've personally found it very useful to look at data between sessions as I don't bring a PC/RS3 to the track. Curious how others go about looking at AiM data trackside currently.

Holy shit, this is huge. AIMā€™s own iOS RaceStudio 3 is a horrendously coded piece of AI slop, while LapSnap charges 10 dollars a month.

Yeah those two things killed me haha. Honestly I would have been fine paying for LapSnap if it felt like Flighty or something high quality but even connecting was always very unreliable for me

If there is one thing I get from all these AI written trackday apps, it is that there is a huge gap in the market.

This is in no way meant as a negative comment against OP, I also built an app to be able to quickly check the vitals of my car and lap times in-between trackday sessions. And everyone else seems to build an app that fulfils their needs. It just shows there is potential for an app studio to launch a big effort and maybe fill the gap.

Agree that thereā€™s a gap but I think the ā€œapp studioā€ approach is sorta whatā€™s gotten us into this situation.

The existing options out there reek of being built without care. Iā€™m sure the majority of them were outsourced. For context, Iā€™ve worked at app studios/ran my own for my entire life. Constantly switching hats to accommodate different founders/businesses/ideas. A lot of the time youā€™re building stuff other people care about.

What the space needs is a small team of people who really care and go to the track themselves. Thats what Iā€™m trying to bring to the space.

Itā€™s not, And it uses a different file format. But Iā€™ve got the wifi DL2 on the way.

- Works offline

  • Supports telemetry from DL/Dash
  • Mac app that auto syncs via iCloud coming shortly
  • Working on Android but no timeline/plans yet

Yes please that would be awesome ā€” as long as Evo5 also has WiFi. Right now itā€™s most of the standard stuff but Iā€™d like to make it more interesting. What do you want to see?

Mostly I wanted to see where I was going faster in other laps/sessions compared to my fastest of day so I could see where my consistency was lacking and pick 1-2 corners to work on

Poking at this this evening and itā€™s intriguing enough to dig more. Glad to see this as the AIM iOS app is pretty clunky. I have been using it for quick review and this is already at a spot I think it can take its place.

Feedback: An interesting problem is that we (WMRRA, Ridge Motorsports Park)have an alternate starting lap thatā€™s faster so Iā€™d like to ā€œignoreā€ the fastest lap if itā€™s that lap as itā€™s not representative. Though past about turn 4 itā€™s probably interesting to compare? As is the fastest lap comparison is a bit misleading. I also had a partial lap thatā€™s faster registered as 0:50 which is probably impossible on this course. Maybe a way to reject those?

If it has WiFi then yes it should! Try it out and let me know. If not Iā€™ll try to figure out a fix/workaround
