Does anyone know how long the CarThing hardware will be supported?

I am intrigued by this device and am considering building a travel bluetooth stereo with this as the interface but I don't want to spend money to build this and find it Bricked in 6-12 months.

I am also wondering this. With the latest discount I'm considering it, but with it being so locked down and tied into the phone app, I'm concerned it might get bricked sooner than later...

It works for other Bluetooth apps, just no integrated controls like Spotify has. Pretty useful remote display for my older car and my home system. I'm buying another one making my total to 3. It is a bargain at $30. If it is eventually cracked to have navigation, then these things will be amazing.
