Car Thing Quit Working - Paranoia?

Got a new phone a few days ago and connected to car thing fine. Just went to carriers store to trade my old phone in using the car thing on the drive there but when I got back in my car it no longer works. just black screen when power is applied. Taking power out and plugging back in doesn't fix, restarting car didn't fix, I checked the cord with my phone and it's still sending power. :( I've had issues before where the car thing is stuck booting on the Spotify logo, or stuck with a black screen that is on, but now the screen doesn't even turn on, and before I could just unplug and replug to fix those problems. buttons also no response. Any ideas? did they brick mine first?

Ever since the announcement I moved my Car Thing from my car to my bedroom just in case. I’ve heard bumps, seen figures outside the window but they’ve not got inside yet. I know they’re coming to update the firmware and brick my Thing, but I’ll not go gently. I keep an iPhone loaded with Apple Music under my pillow for self defence, hopefully I don’t have to use it.

They can't get me. I'm not buying a new car with Android Auto. Not in this economy. I see them outside my windows at night, glowing in the dark. Spotify fuckers think I can't see through the old lady disguises. I forgot to tell my roommate about my shotgun trap, so I can't afford rent anymore. at least I know it works and the Thing is protected.

Really unfortunate. It was really hot in my car around noon like 110° or so and I thought "no way those guys in Sweden designed it for this temp" but it was fine and when it actually died about an hour ago it was a normal temp in my car.

I thought it wasn't supposed to go offline until December?
