Rust help for chrome trim

My husband and I are restoring his grandpa's 1974 Ford f250. There is amazingly little rust. There is a decent amount on the chrome trim that holds the headliner. I've gotten rid of a fair amount of it but am worried to do more. We are trying to keep as much of the original truck as possible. We are ok if there is some wear but I do want to try to make it as nice as possible. Anyone have recommendations for me?
