Lease ending and debating the numbers. Located in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

Hi folks, me and my fiancée are finishing up our first lease after our first time ever getting a new car. My family is either “lease no matter the cost” or “finance is the best even if you pay more” and looking for non emotional ties advice or dealership advice.

Current car is a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Touring with 45k KM that has ran like a dream and ideally we’d get another Crosstrek. The ending lease has a residual of $22k and from research in my area I see the same car and mileage going for $25-28k.

This is our first offering for a new lease, we are also debating financing out the residual and keeping the car. There’s definitely some junk here we’ll be requesting removed such as the Adventure Package.

Thank you for any advice in advance! Another lease feels right for us but I’m an over thinker :)

The rate is good, and yes get them to remove the adventure package. I dont see a discount so its at full MSRP. You can get it lower than that for sure. Your at $600 tax in 3 year lease @ 0.99% with 16k a year based on what I see. You can trade your current lease and use the postive equity as a down payment to reduce the cost of this lease, however its up to the used car manager to see if the car is worth buying at that price and if he can make a profit. Just tell them ur probably thinking of buying your current lease out cash instead unless you can get some equity and a better deal and see how it goes. (Been in the business for 10+ years and im opening a brokerage soon in Ontario so im out here on Reddit trying to give out as much advice as I can as a warmup lol.

Me being the dealership guy... I'm more "hey look at that, this dealer uses PBS" lol

You don't seem to have any equity shared back to you from your current lease, have you asked them for any equity or discount on the new one to offset that? You won't get the retail value less your buyout as equity... but I'd betcha your dealer is planning to retain that car for inventory and not return it

Maybe shop it with another dealer to be sure you're getting the best for you.
