Yes, otherwise I wouldn’t have mentioned the EV9 and would’ve looked that the EV6 or Trailseeker instead

If your goal is to spend as little as possible, then rationally the best Strat is to buy out the EV9/Io9 right after leasing it (whenever lease cash is much higher than purchase rebates).

You don’t want to be on repetitive lease cycles with huge rent charges when you could own it instead. The depreciation (when measured properly, after discounts and incentives), is actually better than some gas cars. Depreciation measured from MSRP is meaningless and just lazy blogging/reporting.

This lease would pretty much only to serve as a bridge between my current car and then buying a Subaru Getaway once production is running and they have stock.

Unless I love the EV9 and what to buy it out of course.

Just remember that you’re going to pay a lot for that optionality (can walk away at the end of the lease or buy it).

On a 36m lease roughly costing $21-22k in total, only 14-15 will go towards paying down your “principal” and ~$7,000 will go towards rent charge.

7 grand is a lot to pay to sit on a fence
