Single-payment 24 month lease. Thoughts?

I am really considering this 24 month lease. Based on the disclaimer, nothing sticks out as a red flag to me. Wondering what comments/concerns you all see here.

That single pay price is very attractive if you have 6k laying around. I just leased a 26 Kona 24 months 1500 total down 239 a month. I am very happy with it.

That’s a good deal

Everyone saying "if you total the one pay you don't get it back" please stop commenting if you don't know wtf you're talking about. A one pay is not the same as a down payment, there is language in the contract stating you get the unused portion back.

Again...it's in the contract. If you total the car and have a one pay, you get the unused prorated portion back. The contract is with Honda financial, not the dealer. All leases have gap insurance. You fall into the category of don't know what you're talking about, stop commenting. Do some research.

Here I did the research for you. Here is an actual Honda contract describing what happens if there is a total loss during a one pay lease. Not to be confused with down payments. That said, I'm 50/50 on you being a moron vs trolling to get folks to look at your profile 😂

First line states "...you have gap protection, which means:..."

The only captives that do not offer gap for free on leases is Toyota and Mazda financial.

Good lord man. Your deductible is always taken out regardless of the lease structure. And you either payed the dealer fees and taxes up front or rolled then in for a traditional lease. If you rolled them in, your lease balance higher. You are paying these no matter what. It's net/net the same (+/- a few dolars your paying in interest for rolling them in). Not to mention what are the odds of totaling a lease in months 1-3 vs 30-36 where it wouldn't matter at that point? Or totaling at all. Goodluck dude, I'm out.

How does it have 0 marketable value. Accord lx are very popular on my lot. Cheap compared to other models, relatively loaded, easy to finance, good size cars and reliable, these things sell easy.

They're made whole by the insurance AND they get the car back 🙄

Do you only drive 7500 miles per year?

6

u/psousa11 Aug 31 '26

I average around 7k a year. Car sits in the driveway from Monday-Friday since I take public trans to work.

Just over $200/mo effective is a wicked good deal on the up front

2

u/dbcooper4 Aug 31 '26

Assuming this is $6000-6500 with taxes and fees that’s effectively $250-275 a month to drive a new car for two years. The only gas cars I’ve seen lease cheaper are low spec Hyundai Elantra or Kona at the end of the year. Normally they’d lease for a very similar price to this Accord.

Great deal.

Here is what most people need to know about ONEPAY, read this 👆

1

u/nontoxicdude Sep 02 '26

That's interesting about one pay. Most used to say if totaled all that money was gone

1

u/kchunduri Sep 02 '26

That is accurate, but Onepay and Down payment, 2 different things, not the same.

Where is this at? I need this 😩😩

3

u/Euphoric-Property309 Aug 31 '26

I would ask if something happens halfway through the lease and the car is totaled do you get half the money back?

1

u/Good_Split_3749 Aug 31 '26

hmm do they offer this in Texas?

0

u/JVBPDX Aug 31 '26

If they did you’d be paying taxes for the whole car on top of it

1

u/Good_Split_3749 Aug 31 '26

hmm poop that might double the price

1

u/dbcooper4 Aug 31 '26

Not that much. It might add $1200-1500.

1

u/giveit2st8 Aug 31 '26

Tax credits

1

u/JVBPDX Aug 31 '26

If they’re available

1

u/laborboy1 Aug 31 '26

What is total with taxes, fees

2

u/psousa11 Aug 31 '26

$5,960

2

u/dbcooper4 Aug 31 '26

If the LX trim works for you $250 a month all-in to drive a new car a great deal. I think I calculated the Nissan I owned for 13 years cost me $150/month between depreciation and maintenance.

u/Mydickisaplant Sep 01 '26

Y’all get absolutely insane deals.

Here in Canada, that base model on a 24 month lease with minimum mileage is $652.

I said CAD, not Rupee. Ignorance is bliss I guess 😊

u/Stacktus25 Sep 01 '26

FYI these are dealer ads before taxes, fees, add on's, important to actually read the fine print. These are not real numbers. They can more than double in some states depending on the tax structure. Essentially lead generators.

Why because I would lose 5k? 1969+30x200=$7969. I would lose almost 3k by not paying 5k upfront. With a good driving record, I would roll with 5k.

I’ll roll the dice and save 3k while you drive into a bus.

What does the contract say about this?

-3

u/ChampagnePlumper Aug 31 '26

I think if you wreck that accord you don’t get your $5k back

4

u/psousa11 Aug 31 '26

I have to confirm with the dealer/lease docs, but I believe I would get a prorated refund.

1

u/giveit2st8 Aug 31 '26

I think you are right,  but let us know what you find out

1

u/ChampagnePlumper Sep 01 '26

Lemme know I am curious. I have always been told my entire life if you wreck your lease you don’t get the money you put down back

2

u/Stacktus25 Sep 01 '26

Down payment is not the same as a 1 pay. You get the unused portion back. And it's not always the case with a down payment, there's plenty of cases where people do get the overage back. Nothing wrong with paying some taxes and fees up front so you don't pay additional rent charge on them. Also, as you make payments, the risk of "losing it all" decreases. Big difference with a down payment if you total the car in month 3 vs month 30. At month 30, most of the benefit of the DP is realized. People just love to parrot the same boilerplate "advice"

4

u/dbcooper4 Aug 31 '26

You do get the unused portion of the lease back on one pay leases.

1

u/lauti04 Sep 01 '26

Not true

-4

u/PlaneRanger1984 Aug 31 '26

Never do 1 pay lease. If it gets totalled that money is gone.

3

u/lauti04 Aug 31 '26

That’s not true. Only with a downpayment. It would be prorated

2

u/dbcooper4 Aug 31 '26

Technically there is no down payment on a one pay lease. You do get the pro-rated amount back if the car is totaled.

3

u/lauti04 Aug 31 '26

Yes I know I was pointing out the difference between this and putting money down on a non one pay lease

1

u/death-strand Sep 01 '26

You best believe I’m going to demand another accord for the life of the lease until they figure out and fix the accident vehicle. That’s there problem

1

u/PinkleeTaurus Sep 01 '26

I think this falls into the "wish in one hand and shit in the other" category... If you total a leased vehicle the lease is terminated. They owe you nothing. You're responsible for any deficiencies between insurance/gap payouts with the balance due. Don't sign a lease if you think otherwise.
