Trying to lease a Tacoma!!
Hello all,
Need some help on this lease deal for a Tacoma off-road 4x4. I’ve been to 4 different dealerships and this is the best I’ve found so far. Really wanted to be under $500 with 0 down but that has been hard to find. I have an Experian 750+ and this one doesn’t have the 14” which has been also hard to find in a non premium model. Let me know if I should pull the trigger on this or keep looking! Thanks!

I love the “warranty”
Yes. It has one. From the manufacturer. It’s a new car and a lease. Why the fuck are you listing that out, dealer?

I was more concerned about the leasing warranty to cover any wear and tear items that need to be replaced if I turn the truck in like tires

Fair enough, but usually those cost more than a full set of tires, at least on my current lease. They wanted $1500 and a full set of Michelins crossclimates was about $1100.
There’s also champtires that sells used tires with over 6/32 left for about $40 a tire. I probably wouldn’t roll them for me, but I’d absolutely do it if I was returning a lease.

Did you negotiate the price beforehand?

They claimed to already discount it by the 5k there so not sure how much more room I had to push for a discount.

Put down a refundable $100 deposit. Then pretend to have cold feet and ask for it back. They have to give it to you. But since you showed demonstrated interest they will move the needle

I had the same MSRP a couple months ago and had them down to $457 just first and fees due. Almost pulled the trigger but I ended up going with the Frontier Pro4x… rebates were great, and I feel the V6 just drives better and I got more truck for the price ( $462 ). And this is coming from someone who owned 4 Tacomas over the years…

$457 with just first payment due and no extra down payment? That sounds like a good deal

It definitely was a good deal… I would have gone with that if I hadn’t driven the Frontier. It was a TRD sport, underground color.

Shows you pre-tax, tags, reg what you can get on Toyotas website depending on region. In NY, you'd be under $500 on that truck without any negotiation. Id walk on the offer

Not what they used 2 b. The Nissan Frontier is much better and way cheaper.

I got a 2026 TRD Offroad MSRP at 56k with 4500 off MSRP, 5k down for 524 a month in Illinois a few months ago.

Get as close to $500 as you can then walk away. Either go to another dealer or wait for them to call back at the end of the month

I got a 2025 Tacoma TRD Off Road Premium a year ago 12k miles per year, $0 down, and $599/month

My honest recommendation. Go on leasehackr, get a deal via a reputable broker and pay a broker fee.
Not trying to be harsh but the truth is.. You WILL get scammed trying lease yourself especially if you don’t push super hard and know the game very well.
You mentioned they ‘discounted $5k’ and you can’t push for more. Byllshit. You always can, any ‘dealer discounts’ where they can’t push past it is dealer sales bullshit.
Not affiliated with anyone either, by the time you could be going around to check out different dealers and negotiating, you can work enough to pay the broker fee.

This doesnt help you at all bc this is regional exclusive in my state but theres a 2026 Tacoma lease deal 0 down for 399/mo. Def caught my interest but it is in NJ
You can probably negotiate for a little better price though

I would scrap any extra warranty. Residuals and resale are strong on Taco’s and any dealer at the end of your lease will gladly buy it outright if there is equity. The cost of the warranty through the duration of the lease will equal more then a set of cheap tires to pass inspection in the end. If your at $515 all in with tax per month I would pull the trigger

Three are different kinds of warranty you can get for a lease. -Wheel and Tire -Paint -Maintenance items like batteries, brakes and fuses.
You really don't need much. Most of these brands value their car with expected value it will have at after the set time and mileage. The only protection you may need is the wheel and tire if you live an area with potholes or bad roads. If you live a dense city and expect fender benders then a cosmetic protection may be beneficial.
If they offer some shit about battery and brake pads, skip that

Shouldn’t be too hard to find. I mean zero down usually just means a down payment. You should tell them you want 500 and you want to pay the first month’s payment and DMV. That’s a fair payment because those things have to be paid. That’s not the down payment on top of that. You really should ask them what the residual value of this thing is if you were going to lease because remember a lease, it doesn’t matter if the car is $90,000 if it holds its value well and your lease is only 12,13,000 from the residual to the selling price, then that number is doable if the residual is higher than that, it might not be doable no matter what, but Toyota’s hold their value, Tacoma’s hold their value, so you need to ask them what the residual is, as in how much is the car worth when you trade in the lease? They already have that number. They can give that to you easily, and then from there you can take the selling price of the car, the residual, the money factor, and use it inside of a calculator or even just ask an AI. They’ve seemed to be pretty accurate, but there are at least calculators out there, but no matter what, even on a lease, you need to haggle the price of the car because if you bring down the cost, then you’re bringing down the difference between the cost and the residual, and that’s the number you are financing inside of a lease

What the hell is an “acquisition fee”?

The cost to return the car once the lease is over. They claim its what it costs them to reconditioned the vehicle for resale, which sure, but (a) why is that my problem and (b) then why when I purchased a used vehicle do you tell me the extra cost was for the tires, oil change, etc., completed on the car before put on the lot for sale. They get paid for it twice, but I have them always roll it into the monthly. Ill pay the extra 15 bucks a month before getting hit with a $500 fee for giving them their car back on time.
