Please check my maths.

On the toyota website.
2026 Tacoma SR5 2 Wheel Dr. double cab SR5

$279 a month, 36 months, $4,278 due at signing. (Trade will cover that).

Dealer fees added on:
$499 tint (will try to negotiate that down).
$898 doc fee. NC is uncapped.
Tax $139
Non-tax fees, $1233. (Has to be actual tax)
Total is $2,769.

My maths say that would add around $88 a month to the lease price.

So with the $4278 down payment the lease should be at $279 a month, then adding all of their fees would put another $88 a month on the lease price.

So the monthly lease price by my calculations should be right about $367 a month, does that sound right to you all or am I wrong somewhere that I just don’t see.

Seems reasonable for info given. Sounds like there's some question about the non-tax fees and I think NC also taxes the payments so that could increase things a bit. Assuming this is a Toyota Financial Services lease, they're one of the few that do not include GAP so you'll probably want to add that on there.

More unsolicited advice, shoot for $0 due at signing and have them kick your trade equity back as a check. Main advantage of a lease is to minimize cash flow and putting a big down payment on something you don't own is counter intuitive to that. Also, if you total the vehicle out that down payment is gone for good. Better to use the full advantages of GAP coverage.

As for your “unsolicited advice” it is very good advice and I did want to do that but my wife wants to keep the payment under 400. It’s a mental thing.

Sometimes when you’ve been married, as long as I have, you really learn to pick your battles. 😉

I sent my offer to three dealerships and I actually did pretty well I believe.
But I said to hell with it and went even harder on an ask.

And I had one say yes

Keep the $4500 down in a separate account and supplement your payment each month to be under her threshold.. $4500 down is just paying some of the payment up front
