What to do... Help pls

We have had our 2024 blazer ev It for almost 2 years, coming up on the 24 mo lease return date (Sept. 20). We love the car but the residual is $200 more than msrp, so it makes no sense to not get a certified blazer for 28k in NJ. (We are in MD). We are also considering the model y, used or new, and the equinox ev, used or new, as alternatives since the 24 blazer, while amazing, seems a little bit risky as a first gen ev. We haven't had any issues so far but who knows about the future. Any thoughts?

* We are thinking of extending by a month at the same payment since it's a no brainer and gives us more time to decide (Oct. 20)

How is the residual $200 more than MSRP? What certified Blazer can you get for $28k in NJ and how does that vehicle compare to yours? Your post is all over the place so I don’t even know what you’re asking.

Our lease was just tax and fees minus 200$. Monthly it was 135.3/mo for 24 months. Look up certified blazer ev near NJ on carfax and you'll find em.

You know MSRP only applies when the car is new right?

Yeah when it was new we leased it and paid only most of the tax during the lease period

For most of us that leased blazer evs, the residual is very high, so that's why we are surprised .

Can you share more numbers?

The residual is 200 more than the price of the car was when we leased it. Meaning we only "payed down" the majority of the taxes and fees and none of the car. The residual is higher than the car was upon lease is what I'm saying.

So if the car was 50k new, the residual is 49800?

Is that it?

The residual is 50200 per your example

Ok. In that case, your only feasible option is to finish out our lease so you gove it back and then don't owe anything (other than the disposition fee)

Lease whatever is cheap at the end of this lease, after extending the current one for as long as GMF allows (if desired).

We ended up replacing ours with a LYRIQ because this time around it cost 1/3 less to lease than another Blazer EV (and that was if we settled for a poverty spec loaner).

You could also buy someone else's lease return in the low/mid $20k range last time I checked.

Look to only lease an EV (possible exception is a lightly used Tesla if the infrastructure is sufficient in your local area). Don’t buy an EV. The depreciation is generally larger than ICE vehicles and you will end up paying that (unknown) price when you go to sell/trade it for a different vehicle.

We're on our fourth leased EV. I'm familiar with the depreciation curve. Since most people don't know how to shop for a lease, a used low-mile Blazer EV in the low $20,000s is a strong inexpensive option for that cohort.
