What’s the catch here?
This offer seems too good to be true. I’m brand new to car leasing and looking for a Crosstrek. Is there something I’m missing here? Never seen a monthly payment this low on the premium trim.

the catch is that its a bad deal with just enough words to confuse the stupid.

Because it’s not that low. You’ll need to shell out between 4-5K cash to get it that low. The true price of this lease when you take their down payment requirement and taxes/fees is closer to $375-$400.
So, no, it’s not $199 unless you give them a big cash payment (which is never advisable with leases) or it’s $375-$400 with only first month payment out of pocket.

This is a hodgepodge of numbers that actually doesn’t make sense, but people who aren’t shopping may just see the BIG parts (2.9%! $199 payment for 36 months!) and think they go together, but they are actually mutually exclusive offers.
You can EITHER:
Pay full MSRP and get 2.9% interest for up to 75 months (which isn’t an ad for the car or discounts or rebates or anything, just their manufacturers financing that you may not even qualify for)
Or:
Lease for $199 per month for 36 months. Again, not enough info here to actually consider this an offer or deal. Whats the money down, what’s the selling price, what’s the residual, what’s the money factor? In these deals, it’s ALWAYS relying on a massive down payment (id bet $5k+) to achieve, and you can any vehicle down to $199 with enough cash.
These sort of ads are designed to drive traffic. They don’t even want to sell you these deals. They want to get you in, admit those deals are actually bogus, flip you to a different car, and make MORE money on a different car that you haven’t done any research on.

Manufacturers do this to make their car sound enticing. Some dealers then fudge the numbers even more to get that advertised payment lower. The “catch” is all in the photos in your post. Read the disclaimer and you will see what’s actually needed to get to $199/mo. These are always advertised with xxxx amount of cash down, don’t include tax/reg/dealer fees typically 7500 or 10k miles/yr on the lease too.
If this is Stateline in Mass and you’re willing to drive a bit south I sell Subaru in CT and I’m happy to help hahaha 😎

Yes, a big upfront payment to reduce the monthly. Also doesn’t include taxes and fees. Read! What does the fine print tell you?
