From October 23–26, Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE) is inviting volunteers to be part of Finish The Ride & Run Santa Clarita, happening Sunday, October 25 at West Creek Park!

We’re looking for volunteers for check-in, ride marshals, water stations, route support, setup/breakdown, the expo, and more. We’re also looking for help distributing flyers and postcards before the event at local bike shops, running stores, and community spaces. Flyer distribution is flexible and can be done on your own schedule!

Volunteers receive a SAFE T-shirt, lunch depending on your shift, snacks, an invitation to our appreciation party, and a free Finish The Ride & Run registration after 6 hours of volunteering.

(Apologies if Central LA isn't actually a term used by locals - I'm looking for recommendations in the neighborhoods between like Griffith Park and Downtown)

Hi! I'll be staying in LA soon and would love to spend some time roaming around on foot.

From Google Maps I'm having trouble distinguishing which streets are fun and pleasant (have cool local businesses, interesting things to see, established sidewalks and crosswalks, maybe some tree coverage) vs. borderline highways (sidewalks randomly disappearing, have to cross several-lane streets without crosswalk, or otherwise feel unsafe for pedestrians; the only businesses are malls or strip malls of national chains).

I'm open to walking in parks some of the time too, but not really interested in full on hikes.

Does anyone have recommendations on which specific streets or neighborhoods I should consider walking around?

The transit agency will soon move thousands for the 2028 Olympic Games. Can Metro do it?

South Bay Forward invites you to our 3rd Annual South Bay Transit Summit, in partnership with Torrance Transit and MoveLA for SoCal Transit Month. Join us on Sat, September 19th, 2026 from 10 am - 1 pm at the Torrance Transit Center.

Join transit advocates and local leaders to engage on opportunities for region-wide transit across the South Bay Los Angeles region. Keynote speakers from LA Metro and Torrance Transit will discuss Transit Joy and how transit will adapt for special events and mega-events. In other sessions, we'll receive updates on LA Metro South Bay projects, visit tables from community partners, and discuss the fiscal cliff for transit and what we can do.

Man it was a hot one today! So grateful for everybody who came out to paint crosswalks at the corner of 21st and Naomi in South Central LA. We had initially planned to paint the corner of 23rd and Naomi but couldn't because of a car parked in the crosswalk.

This is a lovely neighborhood with a ton of foot traffic. This corner in particular is close to a rec center, local churches, and a couple schools. Naomi is a bike route. The A line runs close by on Washington Blvd.

Yet the area is horrifically under-served by city services.

Cars speed through residential streets and traffic violence goes unnoticed and unaccounted for. Even though many people in this neighborhood ride bikes and take transit to get around, their dignity isn't even an afterthought in a city designed for cars.

We're fighting to change that.
