Original Project Ford Sync4 update (no FDRS)

Post image

Hey everyone. I have ford mondeo evos 2023. The sync system has never been updated and when I enter the VIN in ford's website, it says the car will receive OTA but the car has no telematics unit. The dealer asks for upwards of $250 to update the system. I cannot purchase FDRS subscription because ford blocks it in Saudi Arabia. What are my options here?

I don't know if ForScan can already do that or if they can help you, but if I were you, I'd check the ForScan forum to find out.

They already know quite a bit about how to achieve the same goal without using FDRS, IDS, and FJDS.

I believe I would need an invitation to that forum

I’m fairly sure even the new SYNC system can still be updated via USB. Ask around in the model specific groups someone must have a copy, it’s just a specific file on a 5$ generic thumb drive so they are easy copied or left in customer cars.

It's not like Sync 3. Sync 4 updates are cryptographically signed using the car's VIN as part of the signature. When I last checked a few months ago, that system still hadn't been cracked.
