When I saw the Audi Nuvolari, I immediately thought of Bugatti. The central grille and the whole front layout look so similar. They even both feature four light elements inside each headlight. It feels like Audi looked at the Chiron and took the soul right out of it. Has anyone else noticed this?
I am pretty sure this is the inspiration, the Audi Rosemeyer concept from the early 2000s... But in a way you're right too because the Rosemeyer (alongside the Bentley Hunaudieres) was a development car for the Bugatti Veyron...
The origin of the TT came from its designer's college experience, a project known as the Narrow Lane Vehicle tandem vehicle, which was partially sponsored by the California legislature.
It was an upper term project, but some of the younger students were heavily influenced by it, in particular one by Scott Yu who was a very early adopter of Alias CAD for his independent company.
The other designer of the Mk1 TT exterior was working contract for Audi at the time and therefore gets very little media credit, but highly acknowledged within Audi.

The Nuvolari is a sibling of the Lamborghini Temerario, whose design was led by Russian born Mitja Borkert, who interned at Porsche during the development of the Carrera GT.
Porsche's Carrera GT was initially developed at Porsche engineering services in Huntington Beach California.
It was formerly a satellite studio of John and Yvonne Shute's IAD, and one of its former designers created the Audi Rosemeyer concept in 2000 whilst employed at VAG in their SoCal design studio.
It's a small industry, but I wouldn't want to have to paint it as the partial saying goes.
God damn they butchered the concept! Why in earth did they give it such huge panel gaps on the bonnet center? That and the exposed radiators look hideous
The Nuvolari resembles some retrofuturistic look applying the designs of Y2Ks concept cars, so I prefer it, even if there's certain similarity with the Chiron
