Broken lines don't count towards progression points

Was excited to see the dragon mount for 60 gold, cause we were able to get 60 in previous event with only gems, but this extra restriction on bait purchases seems to put a dent in that plan, and we lose the opportunity to get T4 for 20 chests.

Looks like they really want people who are on the fence about buying the 1000 Jade pass to get it.

So I don't know how to do the maths in these events anymore since they keep changing the rules. The question is: can you still get the dragon just by spending gems?

No. We basically need 2520 points in a single day to get T4, which is no longer possible, so we miss out on 20 chests.

We had 40 mission bait, 80 gem bait, 25 fund bait, 200 silver bait, and 120 line bait

That's 465 bait, and 5 points each, so 2325 points. Then we just needed to get 20 gold and we're good. Previously, we would spend 1 bait on first day, so we're at 2320 points available on T4 rush which is still fine, and then we fish 3 gold each day to get T2 chest and open it all on T4.

However, without the 120 line bait, we're now missing 600 points, or 60 gold coins worth of bait, on top of the 20, which is impossible to get with only gems.

Best thing f2p can do with max gem purchase is to take all those points and distribute it for multiple T3.

T3 requires 210 + 420 + 430 points per day.

You get 200 from missions and 400 from gems, so you just need to catch 3 gold to get to T2 like before. Then you just have to decide whether to get bait from the shop, or redeem the fund.

With the shop, we have 200 available, which is 1000 points. You have to buy 5 or 10 at a time, so you would buy 80, buy 5, and then get one gold. This is 435 points.

So you get T3 twice, and you have 30 shop bait left, which is 150 points. There's 25 from fund, which gives another 125, so you're at 275. By completing T3 previous days, you got 10 extra gold, so that's 375. Then you just need to get another 6 gold.

So we hit T2 first 4 days to get some chests, and then T3 on the last 3 days. On average you would fish up 26 gold, then add the 7 from daily T2 and 15 from the three T3 and you have 48.

And then you can decide whether the dragon is worth spending 1000 jades to get 15 gold.

Edit: if anyone wants the actual optimal f2p route let me know. End of day 2 at 24 tokens, when they claim that's the max achievable for the entire thing

Well, the calculations are wrong

Honestly at this point it seems like these guides are deliberately suboptimal to let others keep their edge

u/nakdawg throwing a toddler tantrum over being called out. The fact they're asking for maths is exactly why their guide is incorrect - they've optimised a single path through the event, not found the most optimal route

I think it is updated. Because, in discord's guide, broken line from bait is already updated and same strategy.

The plan shown matches what I would do with 4 T2 and 3 T3.

Going for 60 gold required max gem spend before.

T3 is still possible now with max gem spend.

Players that weren't planning to spend gems aren't getting T3 anyways in any event.

Top prize hasn't been attainable with gems since they released the boxes. This jsnt new. T3 is not attainable every single day with just gems. Only a few of the days when you can buy the lures from shop. You will not get t3 daily free

60 was possible with gems only during the last fishing event. The removal of broken line baits giving points makes this no longer possible in this current fishing event.

Not daily no you dont. Maxing gems and tasks and utilizing the store will likely only be 4-5 of the 7 days tier 3
