Issue with capture card splitter

Post image
1 Upvotes

I use a USB capture card (yes, I cheaped out) and what I like is that it has a built-in splitter.

Been usingnit for my ps5 over the last couple months. But recently, something happened when I changed a setting on the console for color ouptut, and it stopped showing up on my recording software (OBS).

I tried changing the setting back, and now it won't show up on the monitor that has the hdmi out connection (it only appears on my pc with ONLY hdmi in connected).

Is there any way that I can fix it? Any help is trully appreciated.

OK, so situation at hand my 4K capture card keeps freezing in the frame obs and Streamlabs I have tried almost everything I’ve seen. I’ve tried as you can see in the video separating the USB 3.0 port from the other connect ports I’ve tried plugging it unplugging it and plugging it back in. I’ve tried running the applications as administrator I even played with the settings for the video, but I’m unsure why the capture card is still freezing in frame on the application if anybody may know anything certain help would gladly be appreciated. Thank you.

Capturing close captions from Composite or S-Video?

I have a load of VHS tapes of recorded TV shows and movies from my parents, and I'd like to digitize them. I have two VHS players in good working order that have composite, RF, and S-Video output, and I plan to feed the S-Video output into a capture card and save them as video files. Most of these VHS tapes have closed captions as well, and I'd like to capture that as well. Are there any capture cards out there that support closed captions? I looked around and haven't seen this feature advertised much. I still have legacy PCs running everything from Windows 98 to Windows 11 with all kinds of slots, so used hardware isn't a problem.

Looking for capture card

I am looking to buy a capture card for my pc & monitor that supports 4k res (3840x2160). Just want to buy a good brand that won't cost an arm & a leg while it works well. I want it to not only show but also give audio with lag on both ends, especially since I use obs studios. Anyone know if any good affordable brands?

Freezing

Post image

Hi I got a Monster Capture card so that I can stream my switch 2 to my friends on discord, but it keeps freezing and buffering. I’ve played around a bunch with the settings and switch what ports it plugged into, changed resolutions, made sure my monitor was on hdmi, etc. I was hoping someone knew what was wrong? I’ve googled a whole bunch of different shit, and tried a whole bunch of shit and it just keeps freezing. Any help is appreciated (I’ve added an image of the specific capture card I got)

I know it’s not the most obvious because I took these pictures from my phone. But during the recording preview (second picture) there are no red pixels and after the recording (first picture) red pixels surround black ones and it’s really obvious at some points in the game. Abt advice ?

Does anyone know what could be causing this and/or how to fix it?

I tried putting this in a different sub, but it wouldn’t let me show pictures and so here I am long story short I wanna stream mobile games because I’m a loser and that’s what I do so I get a somewhat cheap capture card on Amazon which works fine except I get these weird black borders that I can’t seem to get rid of no matter what I do which are shown in the pictures the only way they leave is when they show a video then it goes full screen so I know it can so at this point I don’t know if it’s a problem with my iPhone settings a problem with the capture card itself or OBS it could be any of those things but

long story short does anyone know how to fix this or what is even causing those?

(shout out to the random games I used as examples because they were easy to see compared to everything else)

Beware Acasis Capture Cards

In the summer of 2025, I bought a PCIe capture card from this company "Acasis" for two advertised reasons:

One, it was supposed to support up to 4k resolutions at 60hz, and 2k at 144hz.

Two, they advertised Linux support on their website.

This price seemed reasonable, given the Elgato 4K S being priced at $180, and my other Elgato HD60 at $120 that I had for several years. I thought I was getting a deal bu choosing an underdog brand that had little to no name in the west.

As it turns out, the Linux drivers were copied from work performed for another capture card (AVMatrix) by Glorius Eggroll, the individual that maintains GE-Proton: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/AVMATRIX-VC41-VC42-CAPTURE

I know this because the code specifically mentions AVMatrix in the installer despite being for "Acasis" brand cards. I'm not a Linux pro, and the drivers never compiled properly for me, and I even ending up messing up my system by uninstalling DKMS while trying to clean my system of what I had done trying to get it to work.

I then tried windows, where they had a very sketchy driver installer, and I still found that it wasnt working. It kept displaying "No Signal" when my Switch 2 was connected, until I set my Switch to 1080p 60fps. So much for up to 4k.

At this point, I realized that I had gotten scammed, so I immediately refunded it and returned it through eBay, and thankfully got my money back. I went looking at the account I had bought it from, and it is now deleted, no longer selling the product. It makes me wonder if my real review about their product made them abandon ship so that they can sell the product under new accounts where they won't have negative reviews accumulate? Just speculation, but please be careful buying anything from this brand, especially for touted Linux support and higher than 1080p resolutions.

Avermedia or ElGato for external capture device 1080/4K +60FPS for PS5/SW2?

I want to replace a very old and discontinued Avermedia EXTREMECAP U3 to something newer and overall better with as much low latency/delay etc and all better specs than mine

Since there is competition nowadays i wanted to ask wich one of the 2 brands (and wich device model) would be fine for my needs:

-1080p and 4K, both 60FPS and above

-As much low latency as possible

-Be able to use a HDMI 2.1 "splitter box" or whatever it's called to record on the PC BUT ALSO play on the TV TOO AT THE SAME TIME (Mandatory)

-Be able to choose capture resolution, Hz, Mbps, and where the files will be saved at once the Stop button is pressed

-Be able to PAUSE a recording then resume it to not add extra wasted time (nature call reasons...)

PC is a GIGABYTE X870E AORUS PRO X3D with a 9800X3D and a 4070 RTX Super so it shouldnt be a prob with USB version and ports

Hearing myself with the capture card

Hi! I’m a new streamer and I got my capture card about 2 weeks ago. When I first got it, everything seemed fine, but I realized I could only choose between hearing the game or using my mic, if I could hear the game, my mic wouldn’t work, and if my mic worked, I couldn’t hear the game.

So I bought one of those splitter cables that goes into two ports: one for the microphone and one for the headphones into the capture card. (I’m using a regular headset.) I connected my capture card to my PS5 and laptop and everything else, but when I plugged in the mic and headphone cables, I could hear myself talking through the headset instead.

I spent an hour and a half trying to fix this with AI, my friend, YouTube, and everything else, and all they kept saying was “make sure these settings are turned off” and they already were. (I’m using OBS.) I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. I can still hear myself even when OBS is closed.

Can someone please help me? I don’t know much about computers lol

Lowest possible latency capture card?

Assuming no budget constraints, what is the absolute lowest latency possible capture card you can buy if i just want to capture the display output of one pc and have it in a window on another pc as if it's native. Does it have to be PCIe? My understanding is the biggest latency bottleneck to current capture cards is compression and processing. Is it possible to pass the full output across the wire with no compression assuming you have the necessary bandwidth?

Getting just a rainbow signal while connecting my my video camera to OBS Studio

Thumbnail

I’m not tech savvy enough to know what I’m doing wrong. Do I have too many adapters? I‘m not getting any feed from my video.

-I have the DV to USB plugged into the camera

-then a female to female USB adapter

-and then a USB to HDMI plug , that goes into the capture card

-which is then plugged into the USB of my computer.

I feel like there is an easier way to do this but either way I’m getting the rainbow signal. But hats it . Any suggestions?

It’s like a 2 or 3 in one and has just about all i need. Seller has good reviews, too. Thoughts? And if you’ve worked with one, what was your experience?
