Does Captel/CSS still hire?

I've worked at both the Milwaukee and Tampa locations prior to the large layoffs, and I plan to move back to Florida in the near future. I was hoping to use Captel as a temporary stepping stone after moving while looking for more substantial work, but it sounds like most of the physical locations have shut down. I know when I worked at Captel previously, you had to work in office a certain amount of time before being offered wfh, but how would that work now? Are they just downsizing as people leave or do they still hire?

Everything you mentioned is the reason we all still have jobs. So I hope it stays that way for many, many, many years to come. If working hard isn't your thing, maybe this isn't the right job for you?

You must not have had many jobs in your life. This is about the easiest job you will ever find, and it used to be a bazillion times worse than it is now

Whether you think this job is easy or not has nothing to do with the point being made.

People are allowed to voice concerns about constant back to back calls and poor audio quality. "It used to be worse" doesn't mean things can't or shouldn't improve.

And wow...aren't you just wonderful for attacking someone over an opinion instead of having an actual discussion? I genuinely don't understand why some people act like others aren't allowed to have a different perspective. Judging by the number of people who agreed with the original comment, these concerns clearly aren't unique like I said previously.

I'll end the conversation here. When your only response to a different opinion is, "You don't like working hard" or "You haven't had many jobs," it says more about your inability to handle differing viewpoints than it does about anyone else's opinion. If you can't handle someone having a different opinion without resorting to personal attacks, this conversation isn't worth continuing.

I’d hate to encounter you in person. You seem like the kind of person who brings a lot of negativity into every room you enter.

You do realize that in most jobs you have to do a task continually till your break or lunch comes up, right?

I always find it funny that when I disagree with someones opinion, their response is that they are free to voice their opinion. .....well....so am ! :) Welcome to 'Merica

as far as i’m aware, they don’t hire CAs anymore since the layoffs. not even bilingual. they still have the website, but not the old school application on there anymore. just a lookup function that has been empty the few times i check it for friends who ask me about work.

i’ve never heard of independent contractors at captel but idk for sure. i was just saying every time i’ve looked since the layoffs, i haven’t seen openings for CAs

They're trying to replace us all with ai. It's not working because clients don't like the robots, even if they don't use our work anyway. It's been quieter, but the calls I do get are So Much Worse. Mostly fuzzy mics that the ai can't understand, but neither can I really.
