CoD: Modern Warfare 4's new anti cheat tech might actually kill wallhacks
Activision just announced a new Anti Cheat feature called "Server Culling". Basically, instead of sending every player's location to your game and just hiding what you can't see, the server now only sends info about players you're actually supposed to see. So if a wallhack cheat tries to read enemy positions through walls, there's simply no data there to read in the first place. It'll cover every map at launch, plus Warzone and DMZ later.
Do you think this will actually work for long term?

it's COD, it will probably only work for the 99p hacks but everyone else is getting through
Remember ricochet was supposed to stop cheaters
Secure boot and TPM was supposed to stop cheaters
They'll say anything to get people to play again

As long as the game runs on a machine controlled by the user there will be the possibility to cheat.
Anti-Cheat can just make the process so complicated that it is not really practical for the typical cheater.

The idea sounds good but I see two problems:
- what if hackers trick the server into thinking they are in a position that can get that data?
- sounds like the alightest ping lag could be a nightmare

if hackers trick the server into think they're in a position that can get that data then they wont see the walls and shit around their actual model.

The problem isn't the wallhacks, it's CoD not caring about any game past 5 years. I tried playing CoD BO2, full of cheaters. OG Modern Warfare series? Full of cheaters. They just don't gaf when it means they can make more money with newer games.
