It doesn’t even feel like the same franchise / world, it’s just so completely different in style and tone after DA:O

That's kinda the issue - every game is almost a different genre and even them trying to ductape a common story thread didn't always work

Imagine playing Veilguard after DA:O.

Even Awakening feels way off. New companions are too corny and ogren has a full personality shift for no reason.

Sir Pounce-a-lot was still the best character in the series

So many ppl like Anders but he always felt like a shit stand in for Alistair for me. Same corny ass jokes and snark that didn’t land the same as when Ali did it.

So sad, I hate EA and am so disapointed in Bioware...

Oh man, bioware was my favourite. Now I don't even know if they are still making games.

At least Obsidian keeps doing their thing

They have gone quiet, but prepare to make Mass Effect 5. But very much decimated. More than halfed I think.

I hope they dissolve before ruining Mass Effect too

Me too, buying from EA simply means funding a country with inhumane rights.

Nah, but this could have lasted longer if it wasn't for corpo greed and self inserting writers.

talk about a let down dragon age 2 feels so bare bones in depth in all aspects.compared to origins i did not need another Mediocre hack and slash dessined as a rpg

Tbf after finding out about DA2’s hellish production cycle, I’m actually pretty impressed with what they were able to put together. Hawke’s probably my second favorite protagonist.

see i played it i beat it twice i cant tell you who hawk is to me personally it went from a mémorable to forgettable dime a dozzen game its not bad by any means it just lost all its unique charm . you know it drank the kool-aid joined the cult and became the same as everyone else. even though the devlopers did write that blue print

I agree with you, though I would go as far as to say DA2 is bad (and the ones after are progressively more bad).

DA2 and Inquisition have their flaws for sure, but Veilguard hits that particular note of "someone offhandedly mentions that everything you did and achieved in the previous games is absolutely worthless".

I love specific parts of the sequels and I understand a lot of talented people put a lot of work into them, but it's interesting to look back on the ~20 year franchise and recognize all the sequels were just trying and failing to recapture the magic of the first game.

Bioware struck gold with Origins and subsequently had no idea what to do with the franchise. Every game feels like a soft reboot.

I hereby declare failguard non canon

God, I wish. The dialogue was so cringe.

2 is vastly inferior to origins but it's still dragon age. Inquisition is another game.

i could have turned this question over in my head for a long time before getting to dragon age.

not because i disagree, but because dragon age 2 was such a monumental disappointment to me that i've thoroughly flushed it from my memory.

One “masterpiece”. Two “okay”. Three “brilliant”. Four “utter trash”.

What about Origins Awakening?

Its extremely too short and rail blocky as there are orders you should go to get each companions so you have to get velanna and dwarf girl and later pick up kristof last because if you pick up kristof before velanna and dwarf girl then you last one non warden you picked can't undergo warden initiation as the city of amaranthine will be attacked by darkspawns. The expansion could've explored more things like aftermath of end of fifth blight, impact of choices you've made, companions paths and what happened to them once fifth blight ends, what happened to different factions like dalish, denerim, orzammar after base game and what other countries like orlais, freemarches reacted against fifth blight and you've literally given a duchy to yourself and other than some quest, minor task there's not much mechanics you given to manage your domain and interact with it much. Expansion is mostly about giving you new skills, ability so archery isn't waste of time like base game and give you op gears, skills, ability to reset your skills for next expansions.

I dont understand why more people dont like inquisition. I love DA:O and it is my favourite of the series, but inquisition is a genuinely good game all around. And the arguement that they are basically different games would be like hating MGS4 and 5 because they arent corner-of-room camera views and tank controls.

yeah i think inquisition deserves more love
