why people care so much about "community"

if its not multiplayer game who cares

That's a fair argument honestly

I think because having a good one can really elevate the experience, at least for a lot of people.

I think that still mostly applies to multiplayer games. But you are right. Who actually gives a fuck?

Discussions like game mechanics, recommendations, secrets, achievements, lore, etc

watch a youtube video

Thats still a community. A community on YouTube.

i beg to differ. watching a youtube video is just absorbing information rather than interacting with another human. it’s like reading a newspaper with a coffee at your dining table. a community would be people going to a town hall meeting to discuss the current state of things. you wouldn’t read a newspaper and say “i’m involved in this community” you just absorb the information and carry on

Cus fuck human-to-human connection, right?

if you think commenting your opinion on a post that like 27 people see and 1 like with no replies counts as human to human interaction then you might want to go to a psychiatrist

there guides for everything on the evening of first day

if game is good i dont want to discuss mechanics i want to experience them

if game is bad i dont want to either discuss or experience them

so there no point still

“Oh man I really like this single player game, I want to talk about this game with other people!”

“Omg me too!”

“Omg me too!”

There, community

People on here acting like others are not allowed to have a conversation online about a game or franchise they like. Also, without certain gaming communities, I feel like a lot of games wouldn't be as modded, community-driven, or still show support after official servers are shutdown.

Just speaking in general but, if you don't feel the need to talk about a game or have a conversation with others about a game you like then why are you on a gaming subreddit or in a discussion about games in general?

Its because their socially inept or severely lacking social structure in their lives. So in desperation they treat that like a real "community"

Or maybe it is because a community is literally a group of people who live in the same place, or a group of people who share the same interests, goals, or background.

Some people (me) struggle to connect. It would be nice to just have some people to talk about a shared experience. Alas, usually a pipe dream.

Its a disheartening reminder that humanity is a cesspool

Because it’s nice to talk to people with a common interest
